Now is not the time to panic. The younger lads are doing well and the senior lads are too good not to turn it around.

Prior isn't fit whilst Stokes is an average bowler who can't hold a bat right now. The rest can stay for this summer at least.

Broad should be there too (batting at 10)

I'd say calling Stokes an average bowler is a tad harsh. 5-91 overall in the previous test, for me he should stay in for now - only because Broad needs resting and Anderson could be suspended. Either of those to be replaced by Jordan for me.

Aside from that though I completely agree. It isn't, and won't, be the time to make radical changes. Morgan isn't really the best shout, he's hardly in brilliant nick and averages 30. Is he really much better than Cook? Back Bell and Cook until the end of the series, rotate the fatigued bowlers and give someone else a go behind the stumps- probably Buttler, although personally I'd stick with Foster for the next year or so, who would also offer Cook captaincy advice, while Butler polishes his keeping skills.

Morgan is averaging Morgan (Middlesex) 58.66 this season having passed on the IPL. Mike Brearley successfully captained England with a test match average of 22.88!

Thats my team, though wouldnt be against resting Anderson, i said he should have been rested before now on other threads.

Cook should retire from one day cricket ( dont think he should be in the odi side anyway). India have sussed him out , they gave him nothing short yesterday, he was simply surviving it was tough to watch. He needs to go back to county cricket, find form and hopefully return a better player, he has scored thousands of runs at test level and still to reach his peak , you dont become a bad player overnight.

Prior should be dropped particularly as it would seem hes not even fit.

Broad , well im just not a fan. Shouldnt be opening the bowling for a start, Plunkett has been brought in as the enforcer but Broad cant handle that as that what he thinks he is, hence why he rarely seems capable of bowling a ball on the batsmens side of the wicket.
Talented bowler without doubt but if he is to play in the next match he should be locked in a room and made to watch Kumars performance in the first innings over and over again, as is said a talented bowler but not half as good as he thinks he is.

I am not convinced Buttler has a batting technique good enough (yet) for test matches, odi`s and t20 certainly but is he suited to test cricket,

Bairstow has scored runs at test level against better attacks than India and has more experience, so maybe he would be a better pick at the moment.

A new captain is needed to input some fresh ideas and a different approach, the players are good players that are under performing, maybe a new captain could give them a lift.

If I were being ruthless, this is the XI I would have picked for the Rose Bowl:

Lyth
Robson
Bell
Root
Ballance
Ali
Foster (C/K)
Jordan
Plunkett
Batty
Anderson

Broad is left out because he needs a rest if he is to be fully fit for Old Trafford. Cook needs to go back to Essex and regain some form, and learn how to captain while he's there. Buttler is not ready, and besides, Foster is in good for and is a good county captain.

So cook the captain should just be stripped of the captaincy and bell should be dropped? If anything it should be the other way round. Bell atleast scored runs in the home ashes. Cook hasnt done it for as long as i can remember

Thanks to Jadeja, Mr Cook is back among runs.

Averaging over 50 in CC Div1, class act IMO. And we need a captain to let cook concentrate on scoring runs
