It's a serious point though. The South American nations see their Olympic teams as being crucial to the full side.

Although obviously qualifying is challenging for us, it would certainly be beneficial to us if we were to qualify.

The only way it would impact Scotiish football greatly would be if we werent able to join the EU and therefore players even from England etc would require a work permit

I don't know, I can certainly see calls for foreign players getting citizenship and capped, particularly when they play for one half of the Old Firm.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear shouts for us to make it easier to get EU citizenship so the English teams can use our teams as breeding grounds for their young foreign players, much as they do with Belgian and Dutch teams.

...that would certainly be a huge step in the right direction since the SFA are not renowned in that area......

I thought the Bosman rule was something that football had adopted because it is not just players in the EU that are free to move at the end of their contract.

I understand for example the rule extends to Norwegian players moving from domestic football to EU clubs?
