Jason Pearce Leader?

I agree mostly mate, was caught on his heels on halfway a few times yesterday and never got close on his way back.

Positionally he is very poor...some people thought it was just whilst he covered the other CB but with a good partner in Cooper this view is very flawed

Cue the "he was our 2nd best player last season only behind Ross" brigade...

5th worst defence in the league last season

Yes I get a lot of people saying he was good last season, he wasn`t good, he was 2nd best of a shocking bunch

Ross was our only player last year. It's a miracle we didn't get relegated. Would like to see Bellusci and Cooper start next game.

Considering how much pressure our defence were under, they held pretty well, Jason Pearce is was the problem last night, we could do a lot worse than him.

meant to say 'was not the problem' bloody phone.

We could also do a lot better than him as well H'Gate

He was poor yesterday, along with 8/9 others agreed. But we've seen what Cooper brings to the table, Calm on the ball, distributes it well (when Smith isnt playing), reads the game well and has good positioning...all things I think Pearce lacks.

If Bellusci is the "warrior" people are saying he is then Cooper/Bellusci is a no brainer.

No Pearce was not the only problem last night but he has been a problem for to long now. Even against Boro he was poor, it was his fault they scored (was dis aloud) as he let the ball get get into the area when he should of cleared it, his distribution is and always has been shocking.

I have watched Bellusci an lot (on tv) for Catania and he is 5x the defender Pearce will ever be imo.

It was the new lad Cooper who let the ball bounce over his head for the boro disallowed goal actually.

No Cooper got his head to it, it should never of got that fair as Pearce was to busy holding his defender to stop it.

I think someone doesn't like/rate Pearce ...........

It was poor defending all around and I'm pretty sure Cooper wasn't blameless but the defence was actually pretty good against boro.

The whole team was shocking, but like sheldon says, someone has decided they dont like Pearce so thats all there is to it and its his fault that we are poor

To be honest cooper wasn't very impressive at all last night.

On the ball in the first half it was like tom lees was back

H'GATE, was the defence pretty good gainst Boro or did Boro just not take advantage of their opportunities?

I wrote on the matchday thread that Warnock was MOTM for me around 85 minutes but apart from him and Cooper, I thought we were weak at the back in that game.

If no one had told me we sold Lees and got Cooper in, I wouldn't have noticed last night.

Jonny

We got turned over in midfield and the defence dealt pretty well with the pressure, Warnock puts everything on the line that's why I rate him.

I think if you look at the defenders we have its got the potential to be a strong defense. they just needed better coverage in front of them. Austin is pointless.

We need a sitting midfielder to take some of the pressure and wingers he can distribute the ball to.

Got to agree, Pearce has been here a while now and shown he can`t make it at this level. League 1 defender at best.

Pearce is a good championship defender

Not even a discussion

Watching the game last night, the Brighton midfield/frontline just seemed to be able to run with ease at our defence.

There was no midfield shield at all. They were just bypassed.

If any area of the team needs particular pointing out from last night - it was midfield from what I saw. None of them showed up until the 2nd half. They were out thought, passed, ran and played - every one of them.

Then we had Brighton bring on LuaLua and Ince as subs - both with pace, which we couldn't handle.

Bad night at the office - what is it about Tuesday evenings?

could and possibly should have seen red for that tackle on the edge of box. Certainly cannot claim to be making a play for the ball.

Average championship defender at best for me.

I agree Kebab, certainly no better than average.

Easily 20 better CB's in this league than him - 2 play for us already

We can't keep the ball, pass the ball, control the ball, no plans - just hit and miss, bang the ball anywhere, and hoping for the best - this is madness. Cellino should start worrying ! We can't keep going on like that. I bet you McDermott is pretty pleased.
