A lot of it is to do with Poch.

Whenever I saw him while the team is playing, you can see he's studying the team all the time, and possibly identifying the right kind of players he wants.

I like the fact he's decided to speak to the media in English early on to cut the incessant circus about this non football subject from press conferences.

Glad we got Federico. He gave Diego Costa, no less, last season when ATM where flying high, a seeing to.

Hopefully, he'll give few more this season.

Stambouli looks like a Dier type of player but in the midfield.

Dier type?
Not fazed, plays to his limit, gets stuck in and solid.

I like that the defensive issues have been given absolute priority. Makes you wonder why Harry, AVB and Sherwood could not see the weaknesses, that Poch has identified in a couple of months.

i think that levy demanded it, but it was a good move by levy, and Poch's english is good enough to be understood.

to be fair. Redknapp signed Gallas and Parker, both of who were good for us.

AVB signed Chiriches and Capoue too.

AVB had us solid (until it all suddenly fell apart).

Poch seems to be a class above both of those two though.

i won't even bother mentioning Sherwood, the clown who doesn't believe in DMs, then wonder why west brom race into 3-0 leads against us.

You just did

What was funny is that aura he gave a if he was a top boss...Seeing the same aura at Anfield, and no, it's not the benefit streets there...I think it Brendan

fairly jumping the gun a bit here bud, especially considering we are playing Pool tomorrow who could dîck on us.

BR talks a load of rubbish most of the time. The pressure is on him to start getting results, if they were to get beat at Spurs, there would already be a six point gap after just three games. He has had an easy ride with the media, let`s see how he get`s on with a few defeats.

even for his work at southampton and espanyol mate. you know Poch was a manager before he came to spurs right?

Similar points were made about AVB pre Spurs.

Didn't he get sacked from Espanyol?

posted on 30/8/14

Yup

posted on 30/8/14

That wasn't really his fault I've heard though, apparently he kept developing young players before they were sold on season after season before it fell apart

I am not quite sure that the premise of this article is strictly true.

The signings we have made this year have been pretty obscure players, Dier, Fazio, and now Stromboli or what ever his name is. The others, Davies, Vorm came with a fair bit of pre-emptive media discussion before they happened.

And Poch himself was widely tipped, along with others, some time before they happened.

I think a lot of the time, it is not the club at all that is the source of the rumours, but agents and the like, leaking discussions, or even false rumours in order to publicise that their player might be available and trying to get the best deal in a competitive situation.

Just my opinion, nothing scientific!

Not being a downer on a Poch as I'm well happy with him

i was more talking about the events that contributed to espanyol's poor form… not an actual description of the sacking.

Even LVG will be getting sacked this afternoon, after Burnley beat United.

I still don't get the prior to this club point though. Avb had an exceptional record before us and people were saying this time last year that AVB created a team that are 'harder to beat'.

I think calling poch a class above on the basis of a few games and a season at Southampton is definitely jumping to conclusions far too early. Can't we enjoy the success for once without making huge claims.
