We managed to get £18m of it back off West Ham. What will you get for the English Sanogo?

Sounds like they had a lucky escape just paying a couple of million more and avoiding the Liverpool flop then....

So you lost £17 mil,we are only paying £16 mil for Welbeck so we are money in front already.

A decent amount. There'll always be the Hulls, West Hams, QPR's etc to take him off our hands if he fails.

You have £1M extra than the Carroll deal and still actually have the player...

Still you could have had Borini for £14M.... although if thats the limits of your ambition may as well just stick with Sanogo....

Borini is an improvement on Sanogo but Welbeck is a far better player than him.

Sanogo cost nothing, and is not very good,Borini costs £14 mil and is not very good either.

he cost 11m, we accepted a bid of 14m from Sunderland. And he is good, had a good season and rescued Sunderland from relegation last season, He scored in the big games too

But then again you mugs claimed Henderson was sh-t too and hes put your midfields to shame on a few occasions now

He didn't have a much better season than Welbeck had a good few years ago when he was a youngster...

Considering half the Liverpool fans think Welbeck is rubbish now I wonder what to make of the guy who's a similar age but a good few years behind in development terms?

In the first sentence I am referring to Welbecks loan move to Sunderland.

not just Liverpool fans, it was mainly Arsenal fans laughing at him on the England match threads. A few Liverpool fans like myself actually like Welbeck and defended him to an extent.

Borini works hard like Welbeck and is a lot better at finishing, just hasn't worked at Liverpool but hes not had that much of a chance with us, on top had 2 horrible injuries which set him back (broken foot and dislocated shoulder). out for 6 months in his first season. Then he got a loan to Sunderland and he performed very well for a struggling relegation threatened side and played a huge part of them surviving it.

Welbeck will score more goals than Sanogo would have I reckon. Don't mind Fabio staying either.

Mamadou I think Borini is a decent player, just not quite top 4 standard, given his age you could maybe say yet.

I do think Welbeck is a better player than him though, if you gave them both exactly the same chance, say leading the line for Arsenal this year. Then I think Welbeck would score more and play better than Borini would...

In fairness to Welbeck he actually has done fairly well for goals when played up front, he just gets shunted out to the wing to often and struggles to score from there. You could say his situation is similar to Sturridges before he left Chelsea except with even better strikers blocking his way into the first team.

Welbeck ain't fit to lace Studge's boots.

Yep, and pre Liverpool Sturridge isn't fit to lace Sturridges boots either... might have a point somewhere in there
