If we have to wait till January for a new keeper then there is no need going for the Valdes risk and instead buy a better number one like Becovic from Stoke as an example.
Not sure that's true is it? Either way he won't be fit until November apparently so maybe eyes for Jan and he comes and trains with us in the mean time or something.

youre right.. i forgot he was released before the transfer window (his contract expired)... if he still had a club after the 2nd of july then he cant be signed after a certain date.
Its early days but he does seem over eager...if that can be considered a bad thing.
He also rushes into situations and gets into the other defenders way which causes confusion. Carragher used to be guilty of this as well.
Definitely needs to work on his positioning and reading of the game. I think the whole Rodgers sees him as a leader has been taken too much to his head and he seems like he has to do everything.

I said before we signed him looks like hes going to be an expensive Koscielny. Physically hes great, when his rash style works and he get gets to the ball first its very effective. However if he doesn't its either danger of a red card or us being caught out of position all over the place at the back.
Ive been satisfied with him if im honest though, still has a lot to improve on but hes only 25 isn't he? Its a partnership problem, Sakho and Lovren are often caught miles apart from eachother or they both go for the same ball, stuff like that Neville and Carra etc call basics in defending.
We need to persist with the same back 4 though...there definitely is potential in there.
Its not lke I'm saying rush out and buy more players right now in a blind panic Robbing. That is why I added 'long term' to what I said.
Great defenders don't need pace
In fact, the best defenders the game has seen haven't been blessed with pace but an ability to read the game.
In recent times, we had Big Sami who didn't put a foot wrong in 10 years
ts too late to sign a free player... deadline passed (12 september)... january again
-------
You can sign them at anytime, but it's the squad registrations for the league that needed to be finalised, the 25man squads..

Lovren's been average on the whole so far, but a lot of what's been wrong with his performances can be rectified by him calming down a bit and not feeling the need to challenge for any ball that comes near him.
Defensive partnerships build just like attacking ones, he is trying to do too much at the moment and needs to let others do their jobs.
We have looked better without Johnson in the defence and I am sure with more games we will look even better.

Agree with both these posts.
Time will tell, but I think he will turn out to be a top signing.
I think we should have gone for an actual rcb to partner sakho not someone whos played there about 10 times in his whole careee, needs to start playing with his head aswell
He's played RCB more than 10 times now.
My initial impression is that he is not good enough. Looks great in the air and we really lacked this with Agger and Skrtle. But the rest of his game looks poor and hes not that quick either. I prefer Skrtle over him any day of the week. Still early days and could prove me wrong but one too many mistakes already which he will need to iron out 1sr. Lets get a settled back 4 then judge him again in 10-15 games as still way too early to call him a flop
been saying it for ages, it's not the players, it's the system.
He's a very good player but the way we play means eventually the system cracks.
