Pardew In

His record in 2014 is pathetic five wins in 30 odd games.

That idiot hafi was trying to say he should not be under pressure tried to blame refs for all pardews woes

His record in 2013 wasn't much better tbh.

The cockney mafia line is a stick used to beat Newcastle fans at any given opportunity. Don't seem to remember Newcastle fans disliking Rob Lee, Les Ferdinand, Warren Barton and even more recently Chris Hughton because of where they're from. As for the owner with no ambition, possibly but as you say given his sticking up for him at any given opportunity, telling fans to thank him and saying wins are for him hard to pity him.

That's before getting on to his terrible tactics, picking favourites over more talented players and sticking the nut on opposition players.

Maybe Ashley should pay MORE attention to Newcastle Utd. and LESS attention to Rangers?

Both are businesses to him. His interest in one doesn't negate from his lack of in the other. Both are just part of the Sports Direct empire.

How much is Pardew on?

posted on 8/10/14

He did well until we sold Cabaye. Cabaye covered his failings as a manager even more so.

Far too much Darren. Think 500k a year ish.

Yeah Andy its a convenient phrase to describe Ashley and co. And you're right is just a business to him. Changing the name of the ground, and shearers bar show this in spades.

but it looks like pardew is safe as long as Newcastle remain the the premier league

that last bit is massively in doubt rash, if we continue to struggle from embarrassing defeat to scrambled draw we'll be down cut adrift before too long. Only saving grace is the rest of the bottom half are dreadful.

500k a year? That probably explains why Ashley isn't willing to sack him. For a premier league manager that's not a great deal.

posted on 8/10/14

Nope it's very basic, very incentivised contract just like his sporty d crew.

posted on 8/10/14

Who could he replace him with that would take a similar wage, though? Pretty sure even Paul Lambert is on like £2m a year and Villa have been struggling since he's been there.

8 yr contract is the problem....unheard off in the modern game.

posted on 8/10/14

I'd replace him if he covered my student accom and work for free.

posted on 8/10/14

I don't think it's that big a problem. £500k a year works out at £4m over the entire contract. Plus I've also heard he doesn't have to be paid off for the entire length of his contract if he's sacked anyway.

Andy

You should get Pulis.

posted on 8/10/14

Pulis is just more of the same guff. I only want to be able to enjoy watching my team play. Don't expect to be winning anything but coming away from a game thinking we played well would be nice once in a while. I know we'll go the usual broken British manager route but if we are going down that route then maybe Eddie Howe. I know nothing about him but that is probably his biggest appeal the other 'candidates' failings are all too well known.

500k is only a guess.

posted on 8/10/14

Yeah that's fair. But at the moment the team and club need stabilising and Pulis, despite the style of play not being great, is good at doing that.

Are there any teams in France with good managers you can raid? You've done it with their players so why not go the full hog?
