Jimmy White "still believes" he can win World title - can he?

In one word Jimmy: No

Can't believe that's what he's said. Not been past the first round since 2006! To add to the embarrassment, he added: "I'm knocking at the door."

yeah the door to retirement!

Just finished reading Ronnie's autobiography from 2004. Even then he thought Jimmy was never going to win it now!

Quick off the mark, RKW, at least let the last tournament finish

Of course Jimmy can win the world title, he just needs to play like he did last time he won it............

Jammy.. Never.. He claims if he hadn't drunk the way he did in his heyday he would have won 10 World titles.... Er...... Never. 2 perhaps. Winner of the UK... Ron I hope.

I know! Might be the only chance I get today to post that monster first round draw in full! Some tasty names in the first round, reckon you could pronounce some of the Asian names?

Some of them are probably distant cousins of mine

Jimmy had his last chance 20 years ago.

Should have won the World Title in 1992.

As for this tournament, I wish it would go back to a best of 31 final. The last time that happened was when Jimmy won the UK Title in 1992.

Judd Trump will win the UK Championship and then the Masters, Welsh Open, another ranking event and World Championship

And Arsenal will win the league....

And Liverpool will keep a clean sheet

Unfortunately best Arsenal can hope for is 3rd and even that's looking very difficult

Why do you think Judd will do so well?

posted on 12/11/14

Judd has looked really sharp and I believe he can only get better. I know people have said that before over the past 3/4 years but I think he's matured a lot now and really can now become the real deal.

Over his career I'm sure Judd will add a lot more titles - some players you can tell from early on that they have a bit of star quality, and Judd is one of them. The next few years will be dominated by Ronnie, Ding, Selby, Robertson and Trump, although Ronnie is still at the top of the pecking order.

Shame to see John Higgins at the moment, a pale shadow of the player he was. He was probably the only man capable of staying with Ronnie when both in their pomp (Ronnie still is)

My gut feeling is that Higgins has reached the slope that all great players find themselves, and whilst he may be capable of the odd great performance, his general level of consistency will drop. There will be some on here who will have little empathy for Higgins after his controversy a few years ago, but for me there is always some sadness when you see a player not performing as he use to.

When Ronnie reaches the top of the hill... He will quit.

I don't believe Ronnie ever will truly "quit". So many times he's threatened it before, it's like the boy who cried wolf. I suspect if he does finish he'll only make a comeback at a later stage.

RKW we all know Snooker is his life. He can claim to hate it as much as he likes but with the talent and ability he has we know he can't stay away from long. I personally think he'll only fully go once he feels he's really slowing down which most likely will be with age although having seen current signs it doesn't seem like that will be anytime soon.

posted on 13/11/14

He talks today about being the best ever player in his 40's...he's not quitting soon. He is 39 on December 5th....he is exactly 1 year younger than me...... I guess I'm 40 in 3 weeks time then.....
