Do a Malware bytes scan. Download chrome canary browser.
Open a command prompt, type "msconfig" and disable loads of the start up applications that you never use.
I'm having the same issues but on a not so old Vaio - the thing runs like a pensioner on its last days. I think I may have too many things on it.

Galv I think if you press the window button + R that should open the run box then type in "cmd" and press enter.

Hit the laptop with a hammer, hard. Then buy a new one? Malwarebytes is the big one if your computer is infested.
A1 does Canary come with adblock? If not, definitely install that. (With an exception in it for Ja, of course.)
Word of advice. Never try to clean a computer
Not sure, but it is a fast browser.
If I were you.. I'd back up all your data like photos music documents, onto an external hard drive/USB drive and just wipe the laptop clean, reformat it and reinstall windows but only do this if you know how to set up your laptop correctly after the reformat. There's certain drivers you need to install. Sound video and maybe a few others. It's just slightly more complicated than doing it on a desktop computer.
Get ur laptop serviced. We do it for 45 quid send it my way.
You mean you charge 45 quid for running disk defragmenter and disk cleanup?

First mention of defragmentation. OP, do you run a scheduled defrag?

Most laptops that shipped with XP or later generally come with a hidden recovery partition for resetting to the factory state, including bespoke drivers, etc. The method for accessing this partition varies with manufacturer and I would only try it as a last resort and after backing up everything you want to keep.

A2 you have been quiet lately.

I remember commenting on my favourite s-club seven female member as recently as the weekend.
Yeah admin2 I don't think I used the recovery feature when I did reformat a laptop the one time and I found it tricky to install the right drivers.

How do you open a command prompt?

Bring your laptop closer to your mouth and say "Open sesame"....Then it'll open for you.
