if Ospina does well if given a chance when back from injury we should consider getting rid of Szczesny
Only arsenal would have both their first and second choice keepers injured
Pole should have a capital 'P' really.
Unless you think Szcz is actually a pole.
In which case, well... carry on I guess.
Lex, he deserves no capital that cocky pole, in addition, Damian instills one with confidence, the cocky pole just makes one shiver in anger.
I like the look of Martinez, but think it's a little early to start saying he's better than Szcz.
Still, I hope you're right.
If nothing else his surname is a damn sight easier to spell than the Pole's.

You could make a case for Fabianski, not Mannone though.
Fabianski is debatable.
Mannone I'm not even going to dignify with a response.
I second that Lex, the pole's name alone makes one want to puke.
The main reason we were so eager just like Wenger was also eager to try the cocky pole is due to bad experience Almunia gave all of us and the pole was so cocky he cemented his place in the team, sad, I rate Fabianski than this cocky Bendtner in gloves.

No debate at all about Fabianski. When he was given a run of games 5 + he was very very good in goal. In his early part of his career with us he played 1 game then on best for the next 10. Obviously he wouldn't have been too sharp. Didn't help himself though with some of the goals he let in.
However when given a proper run he was very good Imo.
Let's be honest we sold the better keeper in fabianski and kept szczesny who is average at best, would love cech he's a title winning standard keeper, not happening though

Well clearly not.
ffs Szc is such a scapegoat on here, he's 24, he's still a kid in keeper years.
I remember at the 2010 world cup when people were slagging off Neuer, look at him now . Not every keeper is like Courtois.
Szc is a good shot stopper, decent dealing with crosses, just needs to get his handling right and his distribution.
Lay off the guy ffs.
Why lay off the guy?
He thinks hes some sort of superstar so lets treat his performances likes super star.
His distribution and handling have been poor since day one and 4 years later they are still ultra poor.
Because quite frankly some of the criticism is unjust. I think he should be dropped too, but people seem to love to hate him and blame him for everything.
Alexis I agree with you mate. Szes is easily better than the tosh we have had in goal. Fab was a mistake waiting to happen every game. Nearly threw the semi and the final by rushing out and missing. He was awful at corners as well. Good shot stopper but that was all shez has dipped but will come good again. I like martenez good future there I think.

Exactly. Fabianski went from massively underrated to overrated very quickly. People seem to forget how the guy almost cost us in the final with that stupid moment of madness, and against the Scousers when he came for the punch and completely missed it.
Seen too many comments being too critical of Szczesny. He's not been great, but he's not been bad so far this season. 6/10. Remember when Almunia was making howlers every week and Fabianski had his first good run in the team before getting injured? I had every confidence that the teenager who looked good in highlights for Brentford was ready, at least as a deputy. I don't feel that confidence or the need to replace Woj with Martinez just yet, although he's definitely improved since the 7-5 where I pretty much wrote him off.
I don't think Fabianski was overrated either. I think people just finally recognised he always played well. His first few seasons he was inconsistent, made some noticeable mistakes. The 'Flappyhandski' moniker didn't really apply from 2010-11 onwards, when he was consistently impressive whenever he played. Shame he had to be the same nationality as Szczesny.
Here we go, Gooners overrating players.
Martinez did ok. In fact he had pretty much naff all to do, just like the Dortmund game. I don't think WBA had a single chance the 1st half, and only a hand ful in the 2nd.
When all the keepers are fit, Martinez should be sent on loan. Only then can we really judge him and evaluate his future.
Fabianski has been ok, maybe even good since we sold him but from the limited amount I have seen of him he has not been that great, so when he got a run of first choice I don't rate him as good as Szcz. In fact I thought Mannone was better when he first left as he had some outstanding performances.
There are a lot of aspects to being a good keeper so I don't think we can write off Martinez just yet because he ahsnt had a lot to do. One of Seamans greatest attributes was organising his defence. We don't really see close enough to know how well Martinez is doing this and if that is helping the team. The hardest save I can recall him having to make is the shot on Saturday when Ramsey deflected it. The deflection took it just wide but Martinez may have just got finger tips to it as well. It shows that he got down well and in time if it had been going in as well. It also shows his judgement on width of the goal is pretty good as far enough over to keep it out but if it had been any wider he would not have got a touch, which is what you want. Hes also looked fairly assured on crosses/corners.
Seaman did not organise the defence. The defence organised the defence. Seaman looked assured because he knew he had a rock solid defence ahead of him. It's with any top keeper. They look better when they know they have a top quality defence ahead of them.
Martinez had a few saves to make but nothing special. I'm more delighted that our defence looked very solid, and barring the odd nervy moments, we didn't really look like conceding.
Martinez will have his chances, but as cocky and overrated as Szczesny is, I certainly wouldn't want to replace him over Martinez on the back of two games in which he didn't have much to do.

Haha are you being serious?
Fab has a rush of blood in the final when we took the lead just like the rest of the team who went potty for the final 5 mins.
He was Man of the Match against Liverpool and pulled off save after save and yet u think about 1 punch he missed? Oh he also was Man of the Match against Wigan in the Semi after saving our bacon in the penalty shootout.
He might nearly have costs us the final but Szezney DID costs us a final with his blooper against Bham (With Kos playing a part)

So presumably Koscielny is also rubbish and should be sold then?
It refreshing to see a goalkeeper kicking the ball over the half way line from a pass back or goal kick.
