I honestly don’t think there is much difference between the psychology of a hooligan and young British men lured by jihadi extremism. Disaffected youth with low self esteem, probably a lack of positive role models and incredible frustration at not really having a purpose or voice, they don’t know how to channel that in to something positive then latch on to a tribe where suddenly they feel empowered and belonging. Making your mark is far easier to do in a destructive way and being among a tribe only compounds it, I’d imagine it becomes quite addictive.
Scariest moment of my life was at a Sparta Prague game against Banik Ostrava about 10 years ago. Never seen so many riot police, and definitely never riot tanks before! Bottles, rockets, anything that wasn't nailed down was being thrown all over the place. In the UK the worst I ever had was walking down the street in Derby one Sat afternoon when I was about 12 and getting kicked and yelled at by some príck because I was wearing a LFC scarf. He was about 30 ffs.
just randoms Chronic, but obviously not the elderly of course
I reckon " we r" and " ace" have got involved with football violence one way or the other in the old days both in their 40s. Similar strong outspoken characters that detest Chelsea. Old school mentality. Come on we r, admit it
Weare probably got in to a scrap on an EDL march at some point.

Chronic,
How do you get in scraps with random Arsenal fans when it's not a match day?
------
I was pulled over in a car on the side of the road just round the corner from Tally-Ho corner in north finchley with a couple of friends, and I had a spurs flag on my car.
these three goooners were driving past in an audi with the top down and stopped in the road to give us all the hand signals and swearing their heads off... one of my mates leaned out his window and threw his lighter at the audi and scratched it.
as expected, the driver was straight out the car, as were the rest of them, and then that was that. right in the middle of the street in broad daylight, and as they had parked in the street then traffic was just backing up behind
took a couple of mins but eventually people ran over to break it all up.
so it wasn't really football violence.. it was just a trio of arsenal waaankers causing trouble.

Once had a group of skinheads football fans surround a rover metro I was in as a young lad, in the 1980s. The shaked it till I cried.
After I was wrongfully expelled from Harvard as an undergrad, I moved over here I ended up mixing with dodgy friends. This was through my brother-in-laws brother who was a West Ham fan, had to say I loved it and we called ourselves the gse. Anyway it all ended when the brother-in-law was killed by some bloke called Tommy. In the end I manage to frame the guy who got my kicked out of Harvard.

I went to Exeter vs Wasps the other weekend, Rugby Union. There were beer tents out side the ground, plenty of bars inside and you can drink in your seat. Great atmosphere, friendly but passionate, and when the kicker (home or away) lines up a pen/conversion, the crowd is deadly silent, no abuse or putting him off.
Such a different culture to footy but no less enjoyable and elements of it were much better.
Missed the banter with away fans which you get at footy.
Is that that film with the Hobbit <alugh>
Yeah the lead supporting actor with the worst cockney accent ever.
Me and a mate had a hospitality invite to the Chelsea vs Ac Milan game back in the days of Zola. Was all suited and booted, went up to a copy and asked for directions to the "suite" and he sent us right around the stadium past the skinheads and we are walking about with shiny shoes getting some serious abuse.
admin are you a Chelsea fan?

My mate was an AC Milan fan, so I was supporting them. If he had been a Chelsea fan though, I would have cheered them on. Do have a soft spot for Zola.
ACE
I used to live near Romford, and i am not surprised to hear of a p1ss-gun incident taking place there
How did he know it was p1ss?
