Coq as much as I like this guy..I doubt he can be the solo DM pillar that Arsenal require..Specially when he has to dot he covering job alone. He is good squad player to have, but typical of Wenger not to buy top class DM. I would not mind him play along side someone like Gundogan tho.
Yeah. I was worried when we brought him back, being near January I already had visions of wenger coming out regarding signing a DM and saying, "we brought in coquelin who can play there, we also have arteta and ramsey coming back, and chambers who can cover in midfiled"
But he comes out with loads of bullshít so you never really know what to believe, if any of it.
Wenger hasn't addressed the DM position for years. I won't be suprised whatsoever if he decided to give coq a go eventhough he was on loan at charlton.
This is the same manager who decided to take on Flamini for free after a few training sessions rather than invest in top class DM
I have the feeling we'll probably see a CB arrive and that's about it. Now wenger has coq back, and played chambers once at DM, in his brain he'll consider that position sorted now. He's also played ox deeper as well
I'd love to be proved wrong. But going on wengers history and previous January windows, it doesn't give out much hope.
In fairness, Coq has been decent (not outstanding), but is certainly a better option than Flamini, and I have never rated Arteta as a DM. I don't think he is our answer right now, he is still a work in progress. But then, every player has to start from somewhere and must be given a chance to prove himself. Ideally, I would have preferred that he be sent out on loan and we get an experienced DM.
Let's not get carried away with Coq. All it takes is one game where he might make a hash of things and we will be on his back
Coq is a decent squad player, not much more. He does a good job of covering. But he's not good enough. He's 23 now if he was going to be quality he'd be better than he is by now.
He's a decent player who will probably have a good career. But not top level and shouldn't be relied upon to be our DM
He is bang average.
Wenger would be a total cant not to sign a CB & DM this window.
I would really look at Sissoko. Not to cover the DM position as he isn't really that type of player but just because he is so different from the mf players we have.
He is also someone you could efficient deploy out wide as well
Ideally, I would have preferred that he be sent out on loan
=============
How many loans do we have to send a player on?
Coquelin will not be the barrier to a signing of a midfielder. Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere will.

Well i thought coq would be a bit on the small side for the role but i just realised that Makelele was a midget!

A midget with 27 inch thighs and no neck. Wouldn't want him chopping at your ankles.
Cockalin is no where near good enough, we need morgan schneiderlin

You have to be careful not to build up these players to mythical proportions. 27 inch thighs? no neck? They guy has always been a weed, he was just positionally superb, very quick and efficient in the tackle and very intelligent. Not some kind of monstrous beast dm
I hope not. Coq hasn't impressed me so far. He is very hard working but he is not in the correct positions and gets caught out technically too often.
hes average, does nothing to hinder us but isnt a game changer, thats what we need in dm
