Pearce should play the lot of them. At least they care, more than can be said for some.

They cared enough to beat Derby and almost snatch a point at Fulham...

Fantastic result!

Is Brazil still involved? I thought it was Kevin MacDonald and my missus' mate , Jack Lester.

I wonder how far Kyle is off first team potential. He seems to be 'flying' at the moment.

These players are fairly young and generally around the 18 year old mark so you can't just throw them into the first team, too much of a step up for some and harsh on a few of the first team. I get the impression that Burke is getting closer but Walker has probably further to come.

Am I the only red who see's draw backs to U18 success in the Cup? I mean I'm pleased that the team has done well, however we have recent experience of our star U18 striker being pinched from under our very noses by Chelsea.

This leads on another issue regarding FFP. If the club were to offer a young player a new improved contract when faced with a club like Chelsea sniffing around, would these monies fall outside of the regulation's on deficit's?

As regards FFP, for new registrations we can sign players on a free transfer with the restriction that they are paid a maximum of £600k. I can't see any restrictions in the rules to prevent us from offering larger contacts to players already on the books.

Doesn't seem to mention renewals so hopefully we can do that. You would imagine for players who were on the books you could offer better deals, otherwise it will be counter productive in relation to academy/youth

Brazil runs the Academy. McDonald is the U18 coach. Walker looks a little lightweight to me still. He would get a real buffeting from defenders in this league so it may do him more harm than good? I see the comparison with Bamford in that Forest wouldn't want to lose a quality youngster before he had chance to make his mark here but the situation at the club dictated the decision on him. The club is on a more level footing now so you'd hope they could rebuff any offers that materialised.

Olly Burke has been involved in the first team squad a bit already so the smart money would be on him getting a break through chance depending on form and injuries amongst the midfielders. Same goes for Jorge Grant.

I think Pearce should definitely give the younger players a chance at some point, other clubs are not apprehensive about playing their youngsters so why should we be sure the Leeds team that beat the league leaders the other week had 4 teenagers in it ffs

Remember that SP was rightly very critical of the England set up when the U21s reached the finals and the senior squad took several of his better players thereby scuppering any chance the U21s had of winning it.

I think SP is too honourable to do the same to our youth cup team.

Steve Mc has loaned out 3 of our U21s and yet they all played for the U21s this week then went back to their other clubs.

I don't think we're discussing your under 21's

Ray, where else would he post it?

International football and domestic are different in this respect. Tournaments only come round every couple of years whereas Forest have 46 league games to get through and will need to utilise every player they can as FFP bites. Much rather see Burke or Grant get a game ahead of a loaner like Ince, for example.

I blame Rochdale.

Do you guys feel the need to add comments to all our articles for the sake of it even if you haven't really got anything to really relevant? Odd

There is relevance in my comment but I suppose you having to think about it is too much for your doily knitting brains to fathom.

Last time this board died it took Milf, Igor and myself to breathe new life back into it.

Looks like we're going to have to do it all over again.

So this is a thread about FOREST in the Youth Cup which mainly involves players who are Under 18 at the start of the season. I can see why this is totally relevant for a comment about Derby doing something dodgy in the U21's.

You are part of the reason the board died not the solution

Good owd Ray waiting 7hrs, constantly refreshing.

Why not stray into the Rams board, there's plenty going on.

I went to the game and was very impressed. IMO the stand out Forest player was Matty Cash. Looks a fantastic prospect.
