Why would he bother?

He will get a bigger signing on fee for a cheap compensation move, and if the likes of us and Spurs are interested then why would he risk scuppering a move by signing a new deal?

Burnley paid about £500k for him I think so he has more than repaid them in goals, and a fee for him.

All the interested clubs would have tapped him up (or his agent), so he will know what he can get.

He might be happy staying at Burnley. He will haveseen what can happen to careers when you move to a big club. He is only 21, would he risk it? If the money is right, then yes.

Burnley paid £1m for him from Bournemouth and he has repaid the goals but Burnley aren't going to find anyone better than him, so why don't they keep him?

Obviously Burnley will want to keep him, that's irrelevant.

Great, I wouldn't compare Villa with Burnley. They might be close in the league table but they are leagues apart other than that.

Villa pay good wages though.

Delph might be able to get more, but not dramatically.

Burnley are highly likely to pay the lowest wages in the division, and even a new deal for Ings is not going to get him near what he could earn elsewhere.

If he signs then fair enough, good on him, but in this day and age, money usually talks.

It's still not comparable.

Burnley's wage bill is £15.4m on their last accounts. Villas is £70m, ours £130m.

We would be given him say, £40k a week and £2m signing on fee. That's £10m over 4 years.

Let's say Burnley match the signing fee, they won't pay him more than 20k a week, they can't afford it, so £6m.

Good on him if he turns down £4m to stay at a club that can only ever struggle in the Prem, but it's not likely.

Villa have been dumped withy money problems for years now. Why do you think Lambert has brought through youngsters and not spent much more than £5m in any window. Delph won't be on a lot at all.
