It was always going to be tough at first losing Suarez and integrating so many new players. He's found a system that suits the players and we have seen rapid improvement.
We may have too much ground to make up on the top 4 given our poor first half to the season but we will keep going and the the cups give us a great oppurtunity to make it a successful one.
I hope he gets a trophy...deserves one.
He has the makings of one of the best managers in the prem. A trophy or two and a top 4 finish after last seasons 2nd place and the hype wont be misplaced.
I hope Sterling signs a contract, the future looks incredibly promising lots of genuine young talent knocking about, a lot of it English too. Add to that a lot of players that can only get better based on previous performances (lovren Balotelli Allenetc) and the turn around of a few players (Can Sakho Mignolet etc) and theres still plenty of hope for them.
It was laughable that we had some fans calling for his head here after the poor period in November. It's never easy integrating half a dozen new players especially in a season where we had Champions League football for the first time under him as well as losing the highest goal scorer in Europe last season.
The team and Rodgers in particular need a cup for sure this season to really kickstart something special because league wise I still feel we'll fall just short in the finish for the top four after the poor start we had. A very good manager and I'm glad to see he's overcome that difficult period - hopefully he's here for a while yet.
He's also done what many thought he was incapable of doing in coaching the team to improve their defence.

The defense over his near 3 years has been my biggest gripe. Things are looking good at the moment. Just gotta out it together against the teams above us

Yeah that verbal jouster character has been conspicuous by his absence.
We just needed one or two results to go our way, say the everton and leicestee home games
Dropped 4 points there..
One thing rodgers will have realised is if teams are going to defend deep, two strikers are a must to occupy the centre backs, one of those strikers being very mobile.
At least we have the personnel to do that. Have some good options from the bench too.
Was a bit of a risk today as I thought palace actually have good counter attacking options Redinthehead. Although it helped Sturridge for obvious reason giving their defence more to think about.
Wasn't that risky.
Palace weren't intent on attacking. What did they create all game?
Two chances. Both via Skrtel not clearing properly. Other than that we were pretty comfortable with like 70% possession.
Good assist from Hendo today, Balo hit the target from a free kick - looking up
66, they must have done something to get 10 corners, they had 10 shots 4 on target also, we only had 3 more on target.
The counter was on for Palace all game, at times we looked very open to it even with 3 cb at the back, they had 3 pacey players in Campbell Gayle from corro and bolasie. A few times they were in good positions on the counter but weren't quick enough in punishing us, one I remember was when Moreno was allowed to get back and make a tackle which was wrongly given as a foul first half.
Brendan is a very good coach. So far, so good. Early days yet to say he is great. Let's wait till he wins something.

Some of those shots were from free kicks that shouldn't have been given.
We did pretty well in cutting the supply by keeping the ball.
Joe Allen did well today on a tight pitch, we were good in possession.
There were no excellent pieces of play that Palace did us on.
Yeah we were good, by far the better team often playing vs 12 men, just noted they had good counter options and Zaha from the bench too. Going 2 upfront was needed as we were losing but doing so suited their counter options more.
Allen did very well started a bit sloppy but the whole team did, Markovic and a few others kept slipping on their backside and touches and passing were woeful. Them taking the lead kicked us into life and we dominated bar the odd counter from there.
No you are right, their 2 chance one they scored from were poor clearances from Skrtel as you said. But they got into positions on the counter a few times usually after sloppy passing from us etc but couldn't capitalise on it, only getting corners etc which Mignolet bossed
Just like Poch for us we will learn his real ability to coach and mange the team when Europa kicks in again.
Both struggled with the fixture pile up before Christmas but hopefully both have found their feet.
Playing the 1 game a week was what BR loved last season as did Poch with Southampton and like it or not was a major factor in both teams successful run

Pray tell, when, in the timespan of the last 15 games we've played one game a week?
Since the 23rd November we've had minimum 6 days between games - twice.
I don't think Spurs will be dissimilar in that, with the league cup games in between either.
Yesterdays result means the Reds have only lost twice in 22 games since a 3-1 Premier League defeat against the Eagles in November.

It was obvious from the summer signings, Rodgers is building a team for the future. Until Lambert came on, Skrtel (30) was our oldest player out there. The next oldest was Mig (26).
This squad will grow together. The fickles calling for the managers head a couple of months ago have fallen quiet. Probably not because they've seen the bigger picture though, more likely because we're unbeaten in 15 (excluding extra time).
------
I feel that's the case, it just a shame that our return to the CL turned out to be such a damp squib while Brendan was working on putting the team back together. He's done it quicker than I expected but we may still struggle to make the top four.
Our season turned on the failed persuit of Sanchez, he would have really made a big difference. There are so few players out there that can play the role Suarez did.
Still, we have much cause for optimism now.
not ashamed to admit, i wanted rodgers gone.
he looked clueless and was calling poor performances as good ones, when it was plain to see our problems.
He has got a new system to suit the majority of our new additions and suddenly we dont look to have wasted the suarez money.
credit to him for turning it around, but we genuinely need to add a couple of top class signings this summer as opposed to several prospects

those prospects are becoming top class players,
we all wanted Sanchez for instance, but our days of shopping at that table are gone for the moment.
sustained CL qualification, trophys and increased revenues may well get us back there, but our renaissance has been based on buying low and selling high.
Brendan and FSG have both said we haven't spent the suarez money yet, so we may well see another large investment next summer, or two 30 mill players.
it all depends on where we finish in the league, but we cannot, at this time be expected to sign the top players.
