I remember this time last year that people said Martinez improved Everton in ways that Moyes never could
--------
Hold on a sec, the bench mark wasn't exactly set sky high from the off. Moyes ffs...
He did improve Everton in ways that Moyes never could, to be fair.
I've always had my reservations over his team's defending, though. It wasn't that bad last season, but now it's shocking I'm not sure how Martinez is going to fix it because he's never been able to build a defence in his life.
Their defence is so bad I can't see how he'll ever finish in the top half of the table while he's there (without Moyes' defence)
Hold on, did you look how moyes would yo-yo with Everton's results?
Look, Martinez will never be considered. They will be those that knee jerk at the sight of someone doing well straight away.. Patience in football today is a rare thing..

Maybe he did. But Martinez is like a yoyo with a broken string.

He's had a shocker this season.
It wasn't long ago though that people said Rodgers couldn't organise a defence, now we might finish the season with the most clean sheets. I am not saying Martinez will turn it around, but stranger things have happened. Howard, Distin and Jags were all ageing so were bound to drop off. They have a couple of very talented centre halves in their 21's in Galloway and Browning, as well as Stones obviously.
He's still a very young manager Martinez.
I think they should stick with him next season and then assess at Xmas how things have gone.
They will probably have to cash in on a few of the bigger name players in the summer, say Coleman, Mirallas and Barkley, then rebuild with the cash.

If they get more than 20m for Barkley they've robbed someone blind
It's sad people have given up on Barkley. Right now he's having growing pains but he's only just turned 21. He has some very good potential. Just needs a better manager to get it out of him. Maybe he should go to Sociedad this summer and Moyes can get the best out of him.
Sociedad are one of the in form sides in Spain now. 3 wins in their last 4 games.
Moyes > Martinez.
But he's better than Rooney and Rooney was more than £20m.

Martinez would handle a big club better than Moyes, guaranteed.

It's not all about being sharp and we'll spoken with the media though. Martinez talks the talk but.........
3 wins out of 4 makes them the 'in form team' Whatever you say.
Utd also have 3 wins out of 4, just to let you know.

Yes, we are one of the form teams in the PL. Until Sunday at least.

I think it's more that people have finally figured him out.
Our media has a tendency to overrate it's own, but they really took the biscuit with Barkley. Guy's a dud.
Depends on how long your form guide is. The premier league website use the last six. We are third in that form guide with four wins, a draw and a loss.

I'm thinking in terms of making much more of the attacking talent they stock, considering they are, generally speaking, more attacking teams than the mid-table sides. A solid defence will normally take you so far, but you have to have a bit more panache for managing the big boys.
To be fair the other day Moyes had Sociedad set up with a playmaker behind 2 strikers and his side beat Sevilla 4-3 in a real thriller.

Apart from Chelsea.
It will be interesting to see what Moyes learns from coaching in Spain and how it may inform his approach to games if he comes back to England.
Going to Spain was the best decision he could have made. His reputation took a massive hit with the shambles at United last season, so clubs wouldn't have been cuing up to take him on, unless they were someone battling relegation.
I think West Ham could eventually be a good job for Moyes if he came back. Not the biggest job, but let's face it he's not going to get a job at the big five clubs in England, but a team with a lot of potential to rise up the table with their imminent stadium move.
Though unless he does learn and change his ways from coaching in Spain I'm sure their deluded fans will be quickly on his back for not playing 'the West Ham way'.
