Exactly

It only matters as evidence we are underperform ing v our potential. We knew that I think

Is an interesting one, for example, if the Reading fans at 3-0 up yesterday had got their game abandoned would Derby have got the 3 points. Firstly the impact on Ipswich would have been much greater, and at 3-0 down it is a near certainty that the game wouldn't have turned in Derby's favour.

Must be something clear in the rules somewhere, or maybe the league can just do what they want?

Hmmmm. I dont care much about ours and Huddersfield's final position but it is interesting to see how it's handled.
Is it the clubs fault ? Blackpool that is.

Apparently the FL will decide if the game is to be replayed. I have a lot of sympathy for Blackpool fans, though I think they should have made their protest and then allowed the game to continue.

Exactly this.

Why not do it at half time, make your point, but then get back to your seat?

We are completely blameless in all of this and I would certainly hope the 3 points are awarded to us. Nothing to do with final placings (though it would admittedly be nice to finish above you once in my lifetime!), but because replaying the game now would be grossly unfair on players who probably have holidays booked, and fans who may have already taken time off work to attend the match. Sure, ticket costs can be refunded, but as anyone who has done a Blackpool away day will know, it doesn't just tend to cost you admission only...!

I feel for the plight of Blackpool supporters, I genuinely do, but yesterdays events were ill-conceived and serve to potentially damage the club further.

I'd be very disappointed if the Football League order the game to be replayed.

I feel a lot of sympathy for the Blackpool fans, but they could have done this at half time or something that made their point. The game may have been delayed for a little while but then continued....It's football itself that can only be harmed in this way, neither the Blackpool owners or the FL will suffer in any way,as the spotlight will now be on the game being stopped, rather than the point they were making, and invading a football pitch to stop the game is a very dangerous route to go down. And the FL will take that into account....In all fairness they may as well just call the game a draw and recompense the Huddersfield fans their money.

It was really tough on the away fans. Not fair, however much sympathy we need to give the Blackpool supporters.

What I'd like to know is why there are no questions raised to the FL as to why they still consider the Oystons to be "fit and proper" owners??

Letting the result stand would be the worst possible outcome. Sets a very dangerous precedent.

If a team requires a point at the end of next season to stay up, what's to stop their fans invading the pitch at 0-0 and causing an abandonment, pointing to yesterdays fixture as a reason they should be awarded the point they need?

Blackpool AFC failed to control their supporters, and as such should be made to forfeit the game with Huddersfield being awarded a 3-0 win. In my (perhaps a tad biased) opinion.

Either that or let the result stand, but deduct the guilty club 6 pts so they don't profit from the abandonment?

Champers.,. I see your point....That's why I said it was a dangerous route to go down....I was looking at it from the point of view that there was no real implication of the points to either side. But the FL are going to look at it from the view that fans may think they can influence the outcome of where their team finishes, and will act with that in mind.

posted on 3/5/15

It wasn't a result though. Thats the only problem with that. The result is the bit after 90 mins etc

LeedsFan..I think you are right there.A deduction of points from the offending fans team would be more suitable,as it would be those that would then suffer the most. They may start next season with a minus points tally,as taking them away this season means nothing.

I have an annual £20 bet with Town fan mate of mine that we will finish above them! this could be my first loss.

Wonder if playing it behind closed doors today was a possibility.

Again, why should we have to settle for one point when 43 minutes of the game haven't been played, a game we were very much in and could well have taken all 3 points from?

There are only two potential solutions to this:

1) The game is either replayed in its entirely or for the final 43 minutes, with the possibility of this being done behind closed doors. The grey area of this however, is that our players are on holiday as of Tuesday. We cannot be forced to field a weakened side.

2) Blackpool forfeit the game and we are awarded a 3-0 win and the 3 points.

In no way should the eventual decision be of the detriment to our club.

Whatever happens the club will be made to pay one way or another!..

The fans have nothing to lose, a points deduction won't be good for the club, but it seems the people in charge ain't either!..

Oh, and finishing above or below anybody because of default, it wouldn't be the first time eh?..

I'd give the game to Huddersfield rather than replaying it.

Not too fussed about them finishing above us in the grand scheme of things and at the end of the day Huddersfield shouldn't have to go out their way accommodate blackpool.

So itch the season now done that leaves only one option, award Huddersfield three points and have done with it

posted on 3/5/15

I agree with matty, about the result.

However,as much as I feel for blackpool fans about their owner, this can't happen, although violence free its a pitch invasion.

Standard response is 3-0 victory to the innocent team.

The point is if the fl call it a draw and let fans affect the result of a game its only a matter of time before a team facing relegation,s fans invade the pitch and try get a result that way!

The best way the fl could deal with it is to scratch the final game and give no points whatsoever and either relegate blackpool a further division or give them a 10 point deduction next season
