Exactly Sheriff,we would all have Messi shirts on,and be glory hunting fools................if we want to be entertained like children.
Many reasons we follow teams, and usually linked to who is winning stuff, basically.
All very well saying spurs or west ham play acertain way,but what have they done recently?Diddly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The usual reason for following a team is because they're winning stuff? Sorry mate that's bóllocks, might apply to the generation of glory hunters who claim to be Barca 'fans' having never set foot in the City, or Utd fans having been born into Fergies era of dominance despite living at the other end of the country, or even Chelsea fans that have carefully chosen their team during Abramovic's sugar daddy days. But most people support their team because of where they live or because their family passed on the patronage at an early age.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most? Im pretty sure "most people" live outside of the UK. Or are they not allowed to watch football from your country?
"So I'm deluded for thinking our double winning team in '98 is
better than this current Chelsea side?"
No, you're deluded for declaring me "utterly clueless" for disagreeing. I have said it is disputable, but you make it sound like both teams aren't in the same league. That's the implication of your insult. I have some memories of our '97/98 side even though I was a wee kid at the time, and it was mostly a functional, solid, unspectacular side with a tid bit of flair from Bergkamp and Overmars. It was far from being one of the great title winners of English footy.
Your away fans are chanting "Boring Boring Chelsea"
Are you going to scold them after the match for travelling and paying their money because they should all agree with you?
Like someone says you are utterly clueless.
Oh you were a kid in 97/98 so don't get to judge the team for what you saw anwyay
Sheriff for standing up to the infants of his board
Sheriff has been standing up to people on the Spurs board?
Sheriff knows what he's talking about unlike the rest of the Arsenal mugs.
Sheriff, who admits he is too young to remember 97-98, knows what he is talking about
Oh dear. Oh dear.

Ah yes, one man stands alone from the rest of his fans....
A leader, a genius, a true original
Or a total tool that just doesn't understand what it is to support a team

So now people have to earn a right to follow a club in order for them to be seen as true supporters? Its a childish view IMO. If I followed a team because they wore green and it was my favourite colour it would be just as valid a reason as any. Even more so than if it were being passed down through family tradition as I choose this myself. The reason for supporting a club and also HOW you support a club is an entirely null point. The only thing that matters is how the supporter themselves feels about the club they support.
The only reason this plastic/glory hunter nonsense goes about is to wind people up or to try and validate your own support while knocking others.

Because before I had internet I had a football video game. I knew nothing of the sport as I played baseball for 15 yrs of my life and avoided 'soccer' because I didnt speak spanish like those who played near me. Eventually I became disillusioned with "american sports" in general and was looking for something else. Football gave me that. My reasoning was simple. I speak english, ok english league. Arsenal look highly rated (in the video game) nah feck that I hate red. Blue is my colour of choice, Chelsea it is. Been like that ever since.
To start out Id only see results on a weekly basis from local newspapers. Didnt really know any players. Then I was able to catch a handful of games on the spanish channels. No idea what they were saying but loved it. Eventually got connected to the internet and went through the growing pains of learning the club/team/game. International competitions helped fill in the void.
When channels primarily focused on football became available I got them. Still only saw the once a month at most as the channel would go through most leagues. Now I can watch every match and I am a happy camper.
So basically because I like blue

Thanks for the compliments. We can't all be brain-dead sheep.
You have a real connection there, RtM.
"Sheriff, who admits he is too young to remember 97-98, knows what he is talking about"
I was a kid, but remember our '97/98 team = I was too young to remember the team.
DJ genius comprehension for you.
No, you said you have 'some memories', which is clearly watching PL years on Sky Sports, you fraud.
I note nöe of the mugs either getting outraged or ridiculing my opinions about our '98 winners have offered anything resembling a substantive opinion, beyond personal attacks. That team was unspectacular and its biggest strength was a solid, functional spine and it had little flair compared to Europe's big boys or even Man U. This Chelsea team are better than that team both in domestic dominance and European competitiveness. You can keep deluding yourself otherwise.

I have "some memories" of '08/09. It's no different from my '97/98 description. You're a facking cretin.

The chants were just banter to wind up Chelsea fans. And it worked.
And it exposed Sheriff once more as well.
