I wouldnt mind derby doing that- but this was over the top

Jeepster, in case you were wondering, you failed in your attempt to not sound bitter!

Mojaca:-
The time wasting was a poor show - unfortunately I don't think Burnley actually did anything illegal. It was a severe case 'spoiling tactics' within the rules. They got 3 points and nothing happens to them. Why should they care?

Saying that, do not be disheartened, 12/15 is a very good start. I was very impressed with the link up (again) with Brayford and Croft, Bryson looked sharp and team morale looked good, but I'm sure someone will find a reason to slate Croft et al, tell me Nigel has got it wrong etc. so I'll probably be convinced that I was at a different game......

If that makes sense...

Off to fetch 12Y.O from sleep over...

To be honest, jeep, I'm glad that Howe has adopted these tactics.
We were as good as, if not better than , you and usually we would defend more deeply and be completely niave and end up drawing or probably losing.
If Howe has managed to end our gullibility by being a bit more street-wise, good - that's what he's paid for.
Good football AND a streak of ruthlessness, that'll do for me.

I don't know if any Derby players recieved a booking for any of the Burnley players tactics but if you're going to get booked for that you may as well take the player out.

I personally have never seen anything like it having not seen the Juventus game. Been watching Derby since mid 80's and don't recall anything like that. I've seen many individual cases of course but not a team effort at feigning injury and wasting time. Totally killed the game when we were very much on the up and looking like scoring at any moment.

At one point there were 2 of them down at the same time. Ref lost control and allowed them to do it. If he had given one yellow they would have stopped I'm sure.

Jeepster it's not just the manager either. The players were happy to go along with it. A disgrace and an embarrassment. Continue like that and you will soon pick up a reputation.

That's the spirit, Jorvik !

Pablo,

Derby should have given them something to roll about on the floor for!

On the upside, Chambers finds the net for Forest...
...his own, that is!

Jorvik

They should have, but we would have been punished no doubt by the ref.

Pablo,

If they're fooling the ref then it could easly mean that a Derby play would get booked for a Burnley player diving, I'm just saying you might as well get hung for a pig as for a dog

Pablo - I think you are referring to one tackle by Robinson in the second half where IMO he fouled the Burnley player, who then went down, kicked at Robinson from the floor before feining injury. The ball broke and a second Burnley player went down after hacking at Croft.

Two Derby players were also down in the first half. The ref showed he was lilly livered when a Burnley player fouled someone, (Steve Davies I think), leaving him on the deck. As the ref started to run over Ward broke, the ref turned to follow play and Ward was cut down as he was deciding which player to release. The ref should have shown two yellows but only showed one for the second tackle.

No complaints from me about Burnley's tactics - they got away with as much as the referee allowed them to, and it worked.

Indeed, Eddie we look to the ref to keep this sort of thing in check. Clearly, he didn't appear to care about such things.
Still, my Sunday has a brightened considerably with the 1-4 Hammering at "Fortress Forest"

I know its blatant schadenfreud, but I can't help it!

I am constantly being told to accept Football for what it now is and try to enjoy it. Because some of us experienced Football when it was at least a fairly honest sport, and Refs were at least half decent and recognised that Fans turned up to watch the players and not them, it is not that easy to accept days like yesterday.

To have no complaints and just accept it for what it is could be described as reeking of apathy. The old saying that "these things even themselves during a season" cannot even be applied in this instance because we don't use those kind of tactics. Playing the ball into the corners, last minute substitutions and booting the ball into Row Z are all classed as gamesmanship. However, conning the Ref and blatantly winding the clock down should never be "accepted" but stamped out!

Ah well, the score still stands.....
Personally, I'm delighted. As I said, a great footballing side AND a bit of nous at last. We used to lose games yesterday's but it seems we have, at last, got some bottle back.

And to be fair, Igor, it was one of your guys started bleating about the unfairness of Burnley's tactics, not us and, thankfully, most of your lads seem to have accepted the defeat fair and square.
Sure it's just one game - get over it.
