Imagine where we would be without Kane's goals

1) What is your first choice back four?
I would guess Walker-Dier-Vertonghen--Rose

2) How many times have they played together?

It seems every week it is a different back four, which would be an issue for any team.
The rest of the team seems a lot more settled.

Oh sorry 4th worse but if that makes a difference. Leicester have conceded 54 whilst us 53.

D'jeez, no matter what defence we put out we stuggle and have done all season .

We could resurrect the likes of Thuram, Nesta, Cannavaro and Maldini into their prime selves and get them to play for Spurs. It wouldn't make too much of a difference when you've got inadequate protection for them.

Ledley, sorry but those players you just mentioned would not conceded the goals we have. Why is most our goals conceded due to defensive error? That just can't be a coincidence can it? Yes I agree protection from the midfield is important but you are not sitting there telling me this defence would be decent with a good midfield? The defence is poor and nothing can be done to improve it

Edward cheers bro. Shame there's some arrogant t ossers on this Spurs forum that think only there opinion counts and anything negative towards Spurs is deemed " fickle"

I'm not saying we've got a good defence. Our defence lacks leadership and experience. As for the protection for the defence, I can't think of many clubs who are serious about actually achieving something thinking that having a 21 and 23 year old with less than 60 appearances between them at PL level is the way to go.

Yeh I can agree with that but you still can't cater for a defence that makes mistakes every single game.

Not the worst Spurs defence in your lifetime Don. We conceded 61 goals about 8 years ago. Not surprisingly King was injured.

It is an absolute mess though. Would like to see an experienced solid CB brought in who ideally has PL experience. Bring them in early and get them settled in, while we get rid of Chiriches, and whoever else we don't need. Partner them with Dier and let him learn from them as he's only young and new to the PL. Someone like Huth or Shawcross I'd take.

Spurtle, it's not far off mate let's be honest. I don't ever recall a Spurs team that make so many mistakes and it's comical now. Spurtle we are both on the same wavelength when it comes to levy and we both know what will happen this summer.

Yeah I know . We won't sign the players we should, and we will never get them in early. We will have dropped points in our first 2 games with an incomplete team before we do make any signings.

My worry is that we have our CB purchase all but signed and that is this Kevin Wimmer kid.

I have read glowing reports about him but he is young and raw and having to move over from a different country.

I cant see how Wimmer in the short term is going to improve the defence drastically and i sincerley hope he is one of two cbs we sign the other being experienced, prefably already in the premier league and having leadership qualities.

Our 2nd most important signing i think of the summer will also need to be an experienced dm to partner Bentaleb.

Only once when we have addressed these problem positions should we be looking at signing attacking players.

I just feel there's no progression with the club. What good is a state of the art training facility and 60,000 seater stadium if we stumble and mumble our way through a premier league season every single year? Other supporters might be happy battling for 6th/ 7th every season and barely putting in a decent challenge on the top 4 but I'm not. We should be expecting more from Spurs snd it's about time we progress us a club under this regime.

I agree Don, it is shockingly bad. Surprising given Poch's playing career. He is obviously struggling to get anything out of them. Vertonghen appears to be doing his best to engineer a move out of the club and Chiriches is just so bad I cannot imagine what possessed Spurs to buy him in the first place. Fazio wasn't the worst yesterday but is distinctly average to poor most of the time. Another puzzling buy. This lot have shown they cannot perform which means more change, more time to settle in and all the usual clichés while we, the mugs that give these people a fantastic income and lifestyle, suffer the indignity of another clueless lacklustre performance. Still, its only football, nothing died (other than hope).

Short back, I completely agree. Daniel levy and CO won't be getting my money next season that's for sure. It won't make a blind bit of difference to them but will to me as I can now go on 3 holidays instead of 2

Think its time for Bongani Khumalo to finally step up

Signed him in 2011 aged 24, its now 2015 he is 28 and still hasn't made his debut

That signing was clearly for commercial reasons though .... I mean that is totally obvious to absolutely everyone surely? We were pushing hard in South Africa Commercially. We did pre season tours there and everything

Whether or not it has been worth it depends on any extra revenue we have gained from that push in South Africa less the cost for the player less the opportunity cost of the benefit that we would have got if we commercially pushed in another country.

Basically it's rather petty to bring up the khumalo signing. Unless you genuinely don't know how it all works ?

Exactly. No different to Arsenal signing a couple of oriental players (Imamoto and some striker) in the last decade or so. Purely bought for commercial reasons.
