We just got to wait till late October and even then there is no guarantees during and after.

Nice stats

Sturridge has been a HUGE miss for us this season. Had his fitness been consistent this season I doubt we would have seen anywhere near the amount of formation tinkering (I feel this was mostly done to try and find a way to compensate for the lack of cutting edge with Studge being out of the team).

I also think a fit and firing Studge would have got us top 4.

Regardless of what happens with Sterling or LFC buy in we need to sort Studge’s injury problems.

Shows how much we miss him/ how much better we results are when we have him. Unfortunately being without him is probably something we are going to have to get used to, and cope with better.

Any team would miss the leagues top scorer from the season before.

It still makes me angry that we thought Balotelli & Lambert was going to replace 50 goals from last season.

I know Sturridge got injured but he is injury prone and we should not be relying on his services next season. If he plays it will be a bonus for us but going by his current record I think the lad is going to have repetitive injuries for the rest of his career.

Fair T Bone and agreed.

I just thought a little misinformation (sometimes from posters who supposedly support us) needed clearing up.

There have been massive advances in the treatment of muscular injuries but I think we'd be wise to plan for being without him which reportedly we are.

We could really do with a youth product smashing it ala Fowler and Owen.

We missed him a lot.

I thought his role in last season’s title-challenge was underrated. It’s not just his goal-scoring, he’s very good at finding space in tight areas.

But we can’t leave ourselves exposed again, just in case he is going to remain injury-prone.
Ings and Origi to come in, but is that enough?

Not too worried about the midfield, but more than anything else, BR needs to resolve the defensive problems, this summer, and in view of our experiences this season, I’d rather have too many strikers than too few, as you never know who’s going to work out.

I'm worried about the midfield and less so the defence Wessie.

I think if Henderson is out we lack a range of passing for moving the ball forward quickly.

I like Can, we all do, but I don't think he is particularly the most gifted passers off the ball especially under pressure.

As a midfield it also lacks goals. There is not a three combination that I'd be happy going into games with Arsenal or City with at the moment.

The defence looks better to me. We'd need to keep Sakho fit though but I actually still have faith in Lovren. He's got all the tools.

Lovren is the defender version of Balotelli.

All the physical attributes but no brain.

It has been better since the new year (though that coincides with Can playing there), but Moreno and Lovren were all over the place against Palace.

Midfield has been getting decent possession, and some prospect of finding space , especially through Coutinho, but you may be right.

I do think there's the core of a decent team there, but BR needs to get it right, this summer.

I think the defence looked much better because Lucas was playing regularly. Once he got injured again, 3 at the back started looking more fragile.

But, like with Sturridge, I don't think that we can rely on him being fit. Buying a DM is almost as high a prioirity as a stiker (or 2)

I agree. we need a powerhouse in midfield. Lucas gave us stability but when he was out our defence was exposed making Lovren look like a headless chicken.

We nPlease ensure that you complete the feedback form within 48 hours of this interview so that we can provide adequate feedback in a timely manner.

If for any reason you are unable to conduct this interview, please make us aware ASAP and endeavour to find a replacement so the interview can still take place.

We need Sakho to stay fit. When he came into the back line he steadied the ship. He is quality and could make a good partnership with Skrtel if they have more time playing together.

Erm, ok, good one. The stats kinda prove Liverpool were in fact affected by Sturridge's absense. Lovely though it is to talk about Cesc and Diego, its not really relevant eh

Hmmm If they were unaffected then they didn't miss either of them did they.

I think what you meant was "Chelsea were without Fabregas and Costa for a huge chunk of the season but were unaffected".

Chelsea have in effect 2-3 players for every position in their squad. Of course they weren't affected by the loss of 2 players.

posted on 19/5/15

Chelsea were affected by the loss of Costa as well

They went from dominant goal scoring runaway champions to scraping 1-0s with shiite on stick football and a closing gap with the pack.

What is this decent core?

BR does not have a clue. 3 years into his reign and we are in the same place. The squad overall is poor despite massive investment, The tactics and shape of the team is wrong. 3 CB's because we've brought such poor defenders and we still concede 3 to CP at Anfield

We need at least 6 players good enough for the first team right now

GK, CB. DM, RB, LB, CF

probably true Danny

but in hindsight, isn't it possible that his niggly injuries that made Gerrard think he was just a faker / püssy were the start of something a lot worse? or made worse when he played through them?
