If Hendo continues his special recent disappearing act in games then Milner won't be a bad choice.
Hendo has been dogshîte at the business end of the season.
Bit over the top from Carragher if you ask me.
Doesn't strike me as the most vocal of players, and would be a strange decision in my opinion.
Do you need a gobby player or a player who leads by example?
Do you need a gobby player or a player who leads by example?
==================================
Not talking a bout a gobby player, talking about a communicator.
There is a difference.
If he does sign for us which is looking likely then out of the players we have got he wouldn't be such a bad choice as captain
He would lead by example....i hope
Frankly Hendo is already a senior player and one of the chief offenders for going missing when the team is playing badly. Even a past it Gerrard puts him to shame.

Would you say Hendo is a communicator? Other than wrongly fighting with Balo over a penalty and taking corners and free kicks what else does he do in terms of leadership?
Could be a way of showing that if Milner joins he'll play when fit.
Sg is out the picture now, so we will see who picks up the mantle when the going gets tough; because it will get tough.
Im.hoping the likes of can, hendo and sakho start to be the physical ones now, no good looking for sg now.

Fluck me, if we have to offer a player like James Milner the club captaincy, plus a guaranteed start, just to get him to sign, then we are more flucked than I first thought.
Milner is a proper player in that Carra mould - works hard, committed, resilient and will to win. Just the sort of player we need. Will stand up and be counted when others try to hide.
I agree with Carra.
I'm a fan of Henderson and believe he has a lot to offer, but I would like to see a more experienced player, who is regarded as a good pro be given the captaincy. We don't have many and if Milner signs then he would become an obvious choice.
Henderson doesn't need the extra distractions imo. He needs to concentrate on his own game and continue to improve.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but our best period last season was when Gerrard was out injured and Henderson was captain. 8 games as captain, 6 wins 2 draws. There's may not be a direct correlation but I think it's more than coincidence.
He's vocal on the pitch, he's a good professional and I think he's respected by the other players.
His form towards the end of the season wasn't great but neither was anyone else's.
Without Gerrard in the team Henderson will thrive and he and Milner (provided we definitely get him) will make a good duo in the middle.
It's Hendo all day, for me. He's been at the club a few years, served his apprenticeship under our best ever captain, and now deserves his chance.
It doesn't sit right to me having someone as club captain as soon as they walk in the door. IMO, any captain needs to have earned the respect of his team-mates, know the strengths/weaknesses of his team-mates and to an experienced face around the club.
I'm in the very small minority that think Carra would be a shocking manager. I've utmost respect for him as a player, and he's certainly a keen student of the game. But I'm not convinced he has the right kind of character to succeed in management. The fact that he played a major role in getting Rafa sacked and replaced with Hodgson proves to me that his judgement is suspect.

You obviously haven't read Carragher's book. He played no part in Rafa getting the sack. He said the owners wanted to sack him for public criticism of them but had to bide their time due to Rafa's popularity with the fans, they waited for their chance.
Toor.
No I haven't read his book, but he's makes no secret of the fact he didn't always get on with Rafa and there's plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest he played his part in Rafa's downfall.
