The utter lack of depth of any lead characters and lack of reason to connect with or give a crap about what happens to any of the protagonists (if you can even call them that in this movie) seems to be a modern Hollywood trait. I've seen toddler's paddling pools with more depth.

I don't have an issue with Jake Gylenhall. Done some good performances like Nightcrawler. Michael Bay's done some classics although we need to go back a bit for those I guess. A lot of crap since.

Michael Bay was way off it in this movie though and he seems obsessed with drone shots now. As if his new hobby is drones and he wanted to incorporate that into this film.

Drone shots are so boring

All jokes aside, genuinely looking forward to it especially if it really is as good as they say. Shame Kelly McGillis now looks like Cruise's gran

It might be a great movie.

However, the reality is first reactions are curated

No, I am not saying people watching it are bribed or are thick

What I am saying is that studios typically show movies to critics/industry figures/social media personalities they believe will be inclined to like it, who will spread the word to an audience that will like it.

Recent example ZSJL - brilliant early buzz, but actually quite mixed reviews overall once everyone saw it
