Nonetheless, I'm picking out a percentage of their songs. Of course not all are the same.
How exactly does this detract from my comment about the bands mentioned in this thread (at the point of making my comment) not being underrated?
So you do teach a syllabus, even if only "somewhat".
What syllabus does it most closely relate to?

You called them a gothic band. Which they are not. A tiny percentage of songs does not qualify them as that sorta band.
Radiohead made and electronic album and I wouldnt call them an electronic band.
Sleepy Jackson have a relatively small following for the quality of songs theyve put out. 2 well reviewed albums. They are underrated. You say they are not because you do not rate them....I say that only reinforces what I said about them being underrated.
You have pulled out another odd comparison for Destroyer without actually having any examples. A band not many have heard of with some great albums. Yet you say they are not underrated.
Im not sure if you came here with the purpose of anything other than causing a reaction.
I also found the people who came onto the 2 threads of underrated/overrated bands gave no examples but instead just told people their opinions are wrong.
Hey, everyone here guven their opinion of what they think are underrated bands/acts.
Just because you believe you are correct, doesn't mean people also think you are
No, I didn't call them a gothic band. I called them a "gothic version of Jellyfish" - meaning a darker version of Jellyfish.
"You say they are not because you do not rate them....I say that only reinforces what I said about them being underrated."
On the contrary. I do rate them. They are, in my opinion, a band who is rated, liked, admired, as much as they deserve to be. No more no less.
Just because many people may not have heard of a band, that doesn't make then underrated. You come across as someone who thinks that way. If you don't, then I apologise.
"I'm not sure if you came here with the purpose of anything other than causing a reaction"
I came here to state that all the bands mentioned in the thread were not underrated in my opinion. If that caused a reaction, then so be it.
Machine head
Toots and the maytals
Flogging molly
Jungle
The heavy
Silversun pickups
Sundial
Swell
Pavement
The Black Lips
Well, in case I get torn apart by Ripleys, this lot are underrated because however many critics rave about them they should have been huge - like number 1 in the charts, 10 million albums sold huge, but weren't:
Big Star
Interpol
Judee Sill
Guided by Voices
Neutral Milk Hotel
John Cale
Matthew Sweet
Alex Chilton
Sparklehorse
Wilco
Grandaddy
early Mercury Rev
and since someone mentioned Dan Bejar then we should throw in the New P.o.r.nographers
Neutral Milk Hotel
Enter Shikari
Django Django
The Twighlight Sad
Stereophonics (big band but never get mentioned)
Wolfmother

The Twilight Sad are decent. Not sure how theyre underrated unless you think theyre fantastic.
FRED's a Nickelback fan! Somehow, that makes perfect sense.
The band that springs to mind for me in Maximo Park. I haven't heard anything from them I don't like but they are quite low profile.
Mother Love Bone (Chloe Dancer/Crown of thorns is one of my favourite tunes ever)
Alice in Chains
Guilty 90's Britpop addition.......... Republica. What the hell happened to them?
Oh and The God Machine were pretty awesome too.

Wolfmother, only ever heard Woman by them. Not my cup of tea
Not one person has mentioned Aqua. Philistines.
And I managed to forget my favourite album (probably because I wouldn't think of him as a "band"
Furious Angels - Rob Dougan.
'Be Bop Deluxe'..............Everyone should have a copy of their Futurama album.

Not so much their recent stuff, not even heard their new album, but I do really enjoy the State, Silver Side Up and to a lesser extent the Long Road.
