Maybe Milner had a bit too much vindaloo last night.
I have to say I think he has a fair point but he hasn't expressed it in the right way. Let's be honest Brendan Rodgers is on really thin ice starting from this season - he may well find himself with a P45 come December if we are lying in seventh place or something similar.
The end of season review I feel was probably against what Rodgers wanted: he's been with Pascoe and Marsh for years I believe and to simply discard them would surely have been the owners' decision rather than his. In a way it was probably the only convenient way to keep his job - either leave with his staff or shut up shop and agree to what backroom staff the owners wanted. I mean it is very rare that the assistant manager and other backroom staff lose their jobs for a poor season and the manager who is the leader of them all doesn't.
Why aye man, summat dus nay smell rèet.
How on earth is rèet a banned word?
The undertone at Liverpool is despite the big spending Brendan Rodgers is halfway out of the door.
Two his back room staff have been removed after the manager endured a dire season. Ordinarily you would not see a a manager backed in the transfers market after such an end to a season and with two key members of the managers back room staff removed.
The signings however are the kind of players that a manager of the caliber of say Jurgen Klopp would be happy to work with.
I suspect Alan believes Liverpool have already sounded out a manager, his philosophies on the game and the types of players he prefers. Maybe Alan dosent believe that manager is Brendan Rodgers.
Maybe Alan believes John Henry has his eye on a manager who is currently out of work and learning to speak English.

So you think Rodgers has to get top4 to keep his job?
The staff thing was odd on the face of it but Marsh was actually out of contact and Pascoe only had one year left.
They also sacked three scouts around the new year so the board obviously find them culpable in some way.
Despite what Rodgers says, and he says a lot, I'm not sure he has the autonomy he suggests.
I kind of agree with Kav and Mclanelli actually, this summer has been slightly strange in terms of staff movement.
Maybe it's just me but I can't think of another incident when a club is clearly unhappy with the staff so sacked the coaches and not only kept the manager but backed him in the transfer market.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that they've backed him but it's very unusual and puts BR under pressure.
I'm sure if this were any club other than ours we'd all be saying that something wasn't right behind the scenes and that BR was a lame duck.
Bottom line is he's been given a chance to turn things around and that's all he can reasonably ask for.

I personally don't think so but we'd need to be in the mix and/or win a cup for him to retain his job without top 4.
That sounds about right, I suppose an improvement in performances would be enough for now. LVG definitely needs it to keep his job.

It would have to be a significant improvement in performances to be honest and even then there's a chance the owners would pull the trigger if a better option were available.
Agree re-LVG but he was brought in for immediate results. You don't bring in one of the most experienced coaches in Europe, allow him to spend freely and not expect results.
Surely Rodgers has to get a trophy of some sorts next season - they guy's spent about £500 million since he took over and there's nothing at all to show for it....

£80m but let's not argue over a couple of million here or there.
Agree with Shearer, found the sackings unusual and unprecedented really
Shearer, great player undoubtedly, was never the most cerebral. When he talks I sometimes wonder if he knows more that 3 or 4 well worn phrases.
He's a muppet, his only managerial experience was that of getting his beloved NUFC relegated.
What people, including Alan, are missing is that Rodgers has been known to like O'Driscoll for years. I think I even read he tried to get him at Reading. Hardly like the owners are forcing changes upon him.
Plus it seems that his old team were very subservient. A lieutenant rather than an equal. I think Rodgers is clever enough to realise he hasn't got all the answers and he needs someone to challenge and support him. I think FSG would be advocates of this set up too. O'Driscoll walked into Melwood on his first day and took the training session himself using his own techniques and plans. Can't imagine Pascoe doing this.

Because it's short for 'rétard', which is also a banned word.
I only found this out on the thread about banned words the other day.

That's what I believe John Henry the owner of Liverpool will except. Nothing less will do.
The issue for Brendan is if he his off the pace for a forth place finish before December.
With Klopp lurking in the background and Liverpool's hellish early fixture list, Brendan is up against it big time,
