don will be crying though. he had watched lamela for years prior to spurs and told us all he would be amazing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As did all the oppo fans/pundits who knew of him tbf
Let's face it....it was a buy that screamed 'Lets get this lad who has SERIOUS POTENTIAL at any cost...and when he realises that potential, sell him for a tidy (if not record fee) profit.
Perhaps it would have been nice of someone at the club to take this 'project' on.
As it is, it would appear NOTHING has been done to imrpove him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a good point. Judging by his price, what other people who'd seen him play (and football manager) he's got bags of potential. But what's been done to help him start to fulfil it? For example Ronaldo was told by SAF and the United players to stop diving and reduce the stepovers - who's told Lamela to get his head up earlier and release the ball quicker? Who's advised him to bulk up?

The injury he got in his first season, what was it again? Didn't we send him back to Argentina, when he could have potentially rehabbed under the clubs guidance, while undertake the necessary strength work as players tend to do whilst injured? Just seems like we've not done enough to maximise on our costly investment.
He initially had a thigh problem that he played through without bring it to the medics attention. That bought on back problems which were much harder to shake. When all is said and done, it seems only the humble fan realises he needs to muscle up, the backroom boys seem oblivious to it. Good musculature aids and enhances skills, always has so I cannot understand why they let this boy out looking like yesterdays lettuce.
Bulking up a bit can only be beneficial, especially for attacking players who like to dribble, because invariably their direct opponents will be physically strong. It's not as if it's impossible for someone to get physically stronger without reducing things such as speed and agility. Really basic stuff, expected better from a professional football club.
I disagree with the bulking up comments, there are plenty of smaller players in the league who get by. I just think (as with Soldado) the league is too quick for him.

Give them Lamela and ask for Marchisio in return.
Seriously who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Bulking up?? Does anyone have all his medical records to hand. What do we expect ...the build of a body builder or in my opinion build up of core strength and actually more importantly properly utilising the ability he has.
I'll be surprised if he doesn't have a personal plan in place with regards to his weight, gym work etc.

My point is how do you know he hasn't bulked up or even much stronger than when he arrived.??? Or are you expecting thunder thighs like Roberto Carlos.

Bulking up wld help him for as he clearly has no natural strength....whereas other players can look 'lean' or small but be naturally strong.
It would appear he's neither.
