Team against Newcastle

Your "likely" team seems about right. Could be Carrick or Shweiny though.

Yeah the likely team is going to be the one. Either Schweinsteiger will get his first start tomorrow or in Belgium for the second leg.

The rest picks itself (for now)

However I would like to see the other team too. Love watching Herrera n Mata on pitch at same time. We play better when they are.

Romero
Darmian Smalling Blind Shaw
Herrera Morgan
Adnan Rooney Memphis
Chicha

We're at home, we should be more adventurous

I'd be perfectly happy with that, if that's why LVG decides to do.

Can't see it though.

We really shouldn't need two players sitting in front of the defense at home to Newcastle but I expect to see this;

Romero
Darmian
Smalling
Blind
Shaw
Schneiderlin
Carrick/Schweinsteiger
Mata
Adnan
Depay
Rooney

I cant see it either but thats what i would like to see.
Home game
Attacking team

If only...

I think you should go

Valdes
Darmain, Smalling, Otomendi, Blind
Fellani, Carrick
Cr7, Pedro, Bale
Muller

I'd like to see Morgan and Herrera. Really don't see why we need the holding player especially at home. These two both cover tons of ground and Herrera loves to put a tackle in.
This pairing would give us some real dog in midfield

Fellaini's suspended so we can't see that side sadly.

Are Newcastle missing any players ?
Also, have they been good this season?

Apart from ourselves I havent really been focusing on anyone else.

Good Back 7 but not too sure there would be enough goals with that front four

I dont think anyone would be against this pairing apart from LvG.

If Herrera is relegated to capital one cup starts and cover for injuries this season.....I'll be very upset with LVG.

Should be in the team. He's a much better player (right now) than Adnan, Young etc.

Is he in competition with Young? (Who is also on the bench).

Young started first game I meant.

And yes he is. Herrera coming in for either him or adnan could slightly change the formation.

I'd rather us play with 3 cm's than have either adnan or Young in team. But that's just my opinion.

Imo it's Bastian, Carrick, Morgan and Blind competing for 2 places in the midfield 2 ahead of the defence.

And Herrera, Fellaini, Mata, Adnan and maybe Memphis competing for that attacking mid position ahead of them. Just one slot so a lot of competition.

I'd go for your team but would swap Morgan and Bastian.

Morgan's energy and desire to win the ball make him a much better fit for a CM role than a deep-lying role (though i would be ok with him playing there if Bastian and Carrick are unavailable)

Bastian's range of passing, experience and discipline would make him a good deep-lying playmaker IMO, and he has done it very well for country.

Will Charlie Austin be able to start? I see bookies have slashed odds on him joining you

Charlie Austin wouldn't be a bad signing for me. Scored more than anyone bar 3 last season and in one of poorest teams too.

Agree. I thought that about Danny Ings too, which will probably end up a great bit of business for Liverpool.

Makes sense I suppose, fourth best is about your level now.
