----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it not late for that as he has already played in the competition this year?
Or dont the qualifiers count?
If not we should look at a few Man U players after tonight
Would be an interesting option. The proce we are willing to pay for Stones is extortionate but then again you can understand it given what Jose/the club are probably looking for, a young defender with top level experience who can keep the ball under pressure and has tactical nous (and ideally some pace) to play a high line. Stones, at least in the PL, is the only one who fits that bill. VVD also does but is he of the same quality?
He's a very good player and although young he is experienced and due a step up, he was always going to leave for a higher level. He'd be a player who could slot right in and improve too.
That said if Stones if the player we want I'd rather we wait as we already have four senior players who can fill the role of CB this season.
I'm not sure if the qualifiers count WW. Not sure why he'd be saying he wants to leave otherwise!
Unless it's to get away from Scotland
Only about 24/5 I believe Sidey

Should we really shop in the discount section for a replacement for Terry?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My thoughts exactly
Leave it out Brummie. Saints would be a good level for him. Just shipped four against Malmo, I'd rather get Diick.
I wish people would stop worrying about the money being spent.
its feckin stupid "hes a much cheaper option"
Its not your money
CFC have highly paid accountants to work out the money, trust them not to bankrupt the club.
Your not playing football manager.
FFS Virgil Van Dyk for Christ sake, hes a good replacement for stones at EVERTON not chelsea class.
Hardly a discount player though!
Seen him enough to make a judgement that he is a very good player?
Funny he's very good but Stones is only good.
Celtic win every week, he must be awesome
Always sceptical about Dutch defenders coming into this league. Something about them...

BrummieBlue! has got cabin fever, just ignore him, he's delirious.
Surprising that people are turning their nose up at him because Celtic aren't demanding £40m, given the success of PL defenders with relatively humble origins. Vidic, Ivanovic, Azpilicueta, Koscielny, Evra, Kompany and so many others all made moves to top clubs for small prices and became mainstays.
He's in his mid-twenties playing in the SPL. There must be a reason for that?
mf, virtually all the Celtic games are on British Forces Broadcasting Service for the Scottish lads, so I see him all the time, probably more so than Stones.
I thnk he's a better footballer than Stones from the limited amount of times I've seen of the Everton man, although Stones probably has a bit more of JT about him than VD does.
And the difference in valuation - well no words need be spoken!

Stumbled across this article on the internet.
How do you boys feel now, knowing that he's pretty much kept every forward in his pocket so far for Southampton?
Not to mention his goals already.
Opportunity missed considering your defensive frailties this season, and the fact his value has probably doubled now that he's playing in the PL.
Does this mean I can say: "I told you so", jukebox
