Good for you if you's have turned it down but you could of squeezed Chelsea for hear 50 million as they clearly rate him and are very very keen to strengthen

👏 right stance from Bill

Rather a £50m player at Goodison than money in the bank. Would rather he walked away for free in four years time.

Still time for him to move, but his request has been turned down and it shows that clubs need to make a stand against players who agreed long term deals

Must admit I still wouldn't be surprised to see him go before the window closes. Although glad the club are taking this stance.

Shame on the club for taking this stance eh Mr R.

Chelsea will get him cheap when Roberto has us relegated.

Sorry I don't agree, no shame in sticking to your guns. Especially if you don't change your mind at the last moment, but it appears from your comment your not happy with the club knocking back the transfer request. You are not very consistent are you?

I'm less flaky than you

From the moment Roberto told the press he wasn't for sale I have believed the club would reject anything other than the Sterling fee £50m.

Kenwright has responded to the request in the best possible way and that shows me he is not in it for the money as many accuse him to be.

In fact it could wipe out our debt if he accepted £50m. But he has held firm so far and any compromise would weaken his position with the fanbase.

Then why disagree with me when I said I was happy the club was taking this stance? I am just looking forward to the new signings, because that will show me, that we don't have to sell to buy

Plus you believed he wasn't for sale but would get sold for £50 million ( if a bid like that came in). How could they sell him if he isn't for sale?

It's my forum cop out clause. Said it from the start that it would be £50m.

Am I happy we are not selling our best players

I like Everton as a club/fans but this 'stance' proves nothing tbh. Losing JS will have a minimal effect on your future but £40mil(?) could.
Take the money and all the best

You should give Bill Kenwright a call and tell him what's what.

Disagree TUX, the league will be awash with even more money in a year with the new TV deal. It's important for us to keep our talented young players (Stones, Barkley, Deulofeu, Besic, Lukaku and many more) in order to succeed be that a cup or a run at the top 4.
We can sell but it won't strengthen the squad all that much and sends out the wrong message to the rest of the team.
We want to scout young talent and build a successful team rather than look to make a quick buck and keep our heads above water
