Nah I think they'll do well in Europe.

Their anti football will work a treat I reckon.

if they want to play in the PL there's four clubs above them who players prefer.

Only three of whom will actually sign anyone

Let's not compare what Rafa would have done to BR, the fact that Rafa took over a side that had been in the CL for nearly every year in the last decade compared to Rodgers who didn't have that luxury when he took over.

That said there has been some shockers but fortunately he's primarily gone for younger players with resale value. Heck we nearly made a profit on Borini.

That's not true at all. I think the year Houllier was sacked was the first year we got in in many years.

Ah correct was getting mixed up with top 4. Had been in two consistent seasons though before dropping out again before Rafa came in. I still feel Rafa came into a side that had a much higher reputation around Europe compared to Rodgers. The emergence of previously less renown clubs in England and across Europe has been a hinderence.

Rafa definitely took over a better side than Rodgers. It's not debatable.

We reached the CL QF's only a couple of years before, and had a lot of the same players who had achieved that, as well as consistently finishing in the top 4.

I'm sure Rafa would have done better with the finance that Rodgers has had in pure money terms, but he probably wouldn't have got on board with the restraints of FSG in terms of transfer strategy and wage bill so it's irrelevant really.

To be fair it makes me laugh that a lot of fans will look at every signing we've made and probably give them a B grade despite the very poor signings we've made recently.

While I really like what I've seen from Ings, it's doubtful he's going to make any impact for us unless both Benteke and Sturridge are out.

I can see Firmino needing a season before he shines, but will be interesting to see how long the fans give him if he doesn't provide the goals or assists (bit like Lallana).

Also a bit concerned about the hype that's being raised about Gomez. We see it all to often nowadays just hope he's got as level a head as he seems to have.

I do wish Rafa was picking our players still

I'm not sure whether Liverpool have gone forward at all since Rodgers took over. You had that wonderful season where you finished 2nd due to Suarez scoring nearly every game but in general, apart from that season, the signings and football have been ... meh ... underwhelming. He's spent a lot ... sold a lot ... but the squad is worse than two years ago.

we've never had to sell or lose all our best players at this kind of rate xiu. Every year. Add in all our targets tell us to fookoff and go elsewhere.

It's really depressing and even worse, unavoidable.

Suarez, Sterling, Gerrard, Carra, Agger, Sturridge to injury.

We're an involuntary selling club who also lost a few stars to age.

Coutinho will go next.

"due to Suarez scoring nearly every game"

and I hate this horshiite myth. Suarez went off the boil in the second half of the season when we made our title push. It was players like Gerrard and Sterling and Coutinho who were really making the difference.

I understand that Kaiser but Rodgers is still living off that season. His signings have been fairly average. There are better players out there. Liverpool are a much bigger club than all the others outside the top 4 and have players who respect them for their history.

Yeah well lets see where we finish shall we.

I'll admit he could/should do better

But people underestimate how often we're rejected by players. The pool we shop in is a full tier lower in quality.

Rodgers wanted Miki, Willian, Costa and Sanchez.

I suspect we would be a better squad with them in it.

I still see Coutinho replacing Iniesta at Barcelona.

Sorry but you're wrong. Suarez's alleged 'drop off' coincided with sturridge coming back into the team after an injury. Where Suarez's goals weren't flowing as much, but he assisted pretty much every goal we scored.

Without him on the pitch, we wouldn't have gotten close to that many goals second half of the season.

"but he assisted pretty much every goal we scored."

that is a lot of assists, we scored over a 100 league goals.

It was implied that I meant after he stopped scoring as much, he replaced them with assists.

But getting things right isn't something you appear capable of. So I won't hold it against you.

People forget that Rafa didn't have to deal with City and their billions which has made CL qualification more difficult and in turn made us less attractive as a club to potential signings.

That said, I still think Rafa's record in the transfer market would have been better than Rodgers if he had been given equivalent funding.

He almost signed Alves from Sevilla for 7m in 2005 but the club could only afford 6m for instance. Alves them went to Barca a few years later and was arguably the best right back in the world for four or five years.

Rafa spent plenty. In fact given the increase in transfer fees proportionally he probably spent more.

You can be damned sure he spent more on wages.
