To hard to do.
I would come up with different players each time I remember someone else.
i feel let down VC... does this mean i beat you
Yes.
I am stuck at CB's that are English alone. Just from my time.
Moore, Charlton, Todd, McFarlane, Pallister, Adams, Rio, JT.
Goal keepers
Who do you pick out of Banks, Jennings, Clemence, Shilton, Seaman, Southall, etc.
Impossible to do imo.
England 11 alone it's impossible to pick, but one could be;
Banks
Pallister Ferdinand Moore Cole
Matthews Scholes Edwards Barnes
Charlton Rooney
this my man is a thinking mans article
^^^ Even with that, I'm looking at it and I'm convinced 80% of the team is wrong! Too many to pick from.
GK Goram
LB Cole
CB Hendry
CB Adams
RB Neville
CM Keane
CM Souness
LW Bale
RW Gazza
FW Best
FW Daglish
Maybe the way to do this, would be to pick an 11 from each nation, and then look at how you can merge them?
I went for Adams and Hendy because i wanted a some truly hard bassas in centre defence.

especially pallister in there... and at RB
Pallister at RB????
Barnes
Charlton up front
Rooney, no Lineker
Scholes
Southall
Neville Hansen Moore Cole
Robson
Dalglish Charlton
Best Law Giggs
Very attack minded but would be pretty good at our scoring sides.

That's cheating, you can't have 2 goalkeepers
Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Gazza would be a very good 3 man midfield.
But you'd want Charlton , Best and Brady in the team as well.
Before my time but lots of people say John Charles was the best Welsh player ever and one of the UK's best. A few years ago he was voted the best ever foreign player in Serie A, ahead of the likes of Maradona, Zidane and Platini (who were all fresher in the public memory).
Liam Brady. What a player that guy was.
Liam on the left, George on the right.
No idea about the best team but the following players would be hard for me to leave out even though they couldn't all play in the same team!
Charlton
Best
Law
Edwards
Giggs
Bale
Banks
Moore
Gazza
Robson
Keane
As a United fan I'd also be keen to include the likes of Ferdinand, Irwin and McGrath but there are just too many to choose from. I haven't even mentioned Adams, Pearce, Lineker, Shearer, Scholes, Becks, Dalglish, Rush, Hughes, etc..
It's hard enough picking the best of one nation let alone five!
Just trying to pick an inclusive team here and only players I've seen play in the flesh
.................Southall
Irwin ..... McGrath..... Hansen..... Cole
...... .... Keane ..... McAllister
...Best ...............................Brady
...........Keane.........Shearer
Subs: Jennings, Adams, Collins, Rush,
Manager: Ferguson
Robbie Keane makes it purely for his international record ( but he'd play off Shearer really well. )
Best, Jennings and Brady I only saw play for 7, 45 & 15 minutes respectively in charity matches - but I'm having them.
Certainly not necessarily the best from each nation or the best in their position, but for inclusivity and balance, I think it's a good side. Plus I'm Irish, so it'll have that slant.
Great article, could do this all day.

I bet you could also come up with a different eleven each time you think about it.

I'm already half way through one, it's feckin addictive.
there are so many different variations, and all of them would be world class.
It also depends if you go for best XI players you can force into a team or picking a team that will form the strongest team formation wise.
