Jackson Martinez of Atleti could potentially be on the list depending on his season

posted on 25/9/15

Martínez's performed well in a 2nd tier league, but right now he isn't even getting the nod ahead of Torres atm.

Unless you have a ridiculously talented squad, a top-10 striker ought to at least be an immediate 1st choice for his club imo.

Hi Analog.

Griezzman's is like a better Podolski.

Laughter but no alternatives?

seems thats all people bring to the table, atleast offer some debate as to why, people laughed at costa, and hes been average this season but, I mean 20 goals in 25 games or something last year, and something similar for atletico...hmmm

Yeah, maybe. And you wouldn't classify him as a striker

Sturridge

Lewandowski would be nowhere near if he hadn't have scored in the week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah it's not because he's scored over 120 goals in the last 4 and a bit seasons

If Morata is there, you may as well include Aubameyang who has been doing it since last season. Tbh, is Morata even better than Kane?

I remember many Arsenal fans baulking at the idea of signing Morata when we were linked to him last year. Great player (IMO).

I've seen nothing to suggest so. Maybe I always watch him at the wrög time, but there,s nothing spectacular about Morata.

It's hard to compare players at teams so far apart in prestige and quality as Juventus and Spurs are.

It's a bit too early to tell on Morata, he's barely had half a season as a starter for a top team.

What he has shown at Juve though (which was one of the big question marks on his performances at Madrid) is that he has the bottle to cut it at a top side.

In the past few months, he scored the winner at home in the CL R16 against BvB, drew the penalty that saw Juve through to the semis, scored in both SF legs, again in the final, and the winner recently away to City. That's pretty good going for a striker who up until recently was merely considered a promising player with a brilliant youth record.

But could he do it in a meaningless end of season match at home to Hull?

Morata had 15 goals in 41 matches for Juve last season. Kane had double that and is younger. Beyond the hype of the fancy foreigner with the fancy foreign name in a fancy foreign club, how is he better than Kane?

Rooney
Ronaldo
RvP
Bale
Costa
Lewandowski
Rooney
Tevez
Cavani
Martial

Agree. And probably why Juve want to renegotiate his contract - Understand Madrid have a buy back clause, and have shown an interest in re-signing.

That's a pretty silly argument. I guess Soldado was destroying the league when he moved from Valencia to Spurs. Or Lamela, from Roma to Spurs, eh?

Valencia and Roma are better than Spurs, so it's not surprising their performances dropped

Kane and Morata are both great players – and who knows how each will fare in the future. Both are young and still developing.

Not sure why there is a need to categorically declare a ‘winner’

If you're going to put Suarez in you kind of have to put Messi in as well. Those 2 rotate who plays the centre v wider forward role all the time. And Suarez's natural position has always been a wider role as well. Then you would have to put in Ronaldo as well, as far as I'm aware he's been leading the line recently and scoring hattricks and whatnot.

He might be, he might not be. But Morata is proven on the big stage now. Big goals in important games for Juve in 2015

Well no, Ronaldo has not been leading the line recently, that has been Benzema (as always)

Let's leave both Messi and Ronaldo out of the discussion. We both know that Suarez is a striker.

Suarez is and has always been naturally a wide player. Just like Ronaldo was. They just score so much people want to call them 'strikers' to explain the absurd productivity.

You can put them anywhere in the final 3rd and they'll bag loads-a-goals.

Messi was a wide right player too.
