Yes I'm having fun and like you I will almost certainly be playing it again, now I have better tactics.

A worthy addition to anyones collection

now I have better tactics.

Yeah that's one of the main reasons I'll be dipping in again.

I've never played MGS, but I've heard good things about all the old titles.

Is it worth getting this one stand alone?

And has anybody played Mad Max? My friend says its great.

What mission you on at the mo?

Only got this Saturday just gone I'm enjoying it but find the mother base a pain in the backside.

Not sure what mission i'm on now, just did the one when you capture white Mamba ( i think that was his name)

Tu Meke, I played MGS on my PS3, which I enjoyed so it was a no brainer to give this one a go, I think I like Kojima's imagination.

Hitler what's the issue with the mother base?

Just seems pointless Amiga its only used to develop weapons and so fourth I'd just rather get the guns and blow shat up.

You're a bit early in the game, the base becomes more relevant later.

Mind you, you don't have to go back there.

Cheers Amiga I've just added a new post you might be interested.

Haven't played it in a few days, was loving it for a while but then got a bit bored, bit disappointing that about 6/7 of the last 12 missions are just replaying earlier ones but on a harder difficulty, feels like filler.

Quality game though, definitely the best game of the year so far.

Anyone tried the multiplayer aspects?

Will be honest chris at the moment i am prefering both bloodborne and the witcher, but i am only a short way through so maybe there will be something that takes it to the next level, as so far everything is pretty samey

thought i'd reply here Simon as this is the fresher thread.

First of all MGS is superb, very well polished (almost over polished?!) you can see every bit of effort they haveput in. Its unreal. However im kinda with you I have been completely sucked into the Witcher. Its kinda more how do i put it ... involving, more immersive for me anyway.

One thing that needs to be said is the team that made witcher 3 is way under HALF the team that made games like CoD, almost quarter the team in terms of size than the GTA crew. What that team have done for their size and resources is genuinely unbelievable. How they made such a polished, immersive huge beautiful world with every side quest scripted also is simply stunning and puts EVERY dev team to shame EVERY damn one no arguements.

Much preferred MGS to Witcher

Found Witcher to be just another rather dull, predictable RPG.

MGS was class, for me probably a 8.8/10, just needed a few things perfecting to get right up there

hmm i woul defo argue against that. Obv you have your opinion and if that what you feel then your perfectly within your rights.

However I cant rememeber any RPG having every (yes EVERY) side quest fully scripted and cutscened. Granted I havent done a huge amount as of yeet but Im an RPG veteran. The world is friggin huge, nice balance of density wthin it also. Combat is decent wihtout being out of this world. the toneand feel of the game is up there as beng one of the best iv payed you get totally sucked in. As i said what tha team created with its resources and team size is nothingshort of exceptional to give you an idea the witcher 3 dev team was about 180 members ... compared to almost 300 in Cod, over a 1000 for GTA and half a snippet of the budget. So far for me, outwith P Cars of course its game of the year and i really think fallout has its work cut out. (and believe me when i say Im a HUGE fallout fan) Well Fallout and Elder Scrolls.

The biggest compliment I can pay Witcher is its as good as ANY Elder Scrolls game (ps this is the first witcher i have played)

Maybe it's aimed more for hardcore gamers than me, then?

I put about 30-40 hours into it to be fair, mainly doing side quests and got about half way through the main story too, just found it a bit dull, predictable and not really exciting during combat. Story seemed cool enough, though

Compare that to Skyrim or Oblivion where I felt genuinely immersed in the world and just happy to float around to different cities exploring, letting random things happen or wandering around the countryside. Wasn't really interesting in doing that at all in Witcher, just churning out quests

One thing I hate about both the games was the adjustable difficulty level, though! Too tempting to lower it when it gets to a difficult part, just let me choose Hard at the beginning and make with stick with it That's just me though

ahh it could be the difficulty thing then bud .. I hait on hard and have been thinnkin of turnign it up as iv only died twice (once to wolves ! the other to a moster way higher level than me) Yeah I loved all Elder Scrolls also bud my fave being Morrowind tho as Elder Scrolls has progressed i think it has catered more and more to the masses (things like less lore, less detail in items (damage on items also taken off) all he wee things that more dedicated (not caying you aint infact if you gave Witcher 30-40 hrs to see if you liked it then you a better gamer han you give yourself credit for chief rather than the guy who does 2-3 hours and makes his mind up then. Skyrim for me was obv better in visuals and combat to make it slightly more fun and playable for lesser experienced players (the vast majority of games are following suit to be fair) I hope the same does not follow with fallout (rumours are there will be no hardcore mode which is blasphomy as far as im concerned !)

Skyrim was far too easy for me to be fair (altho i do know how to exploit Bethseda character builders lol !) I mean the final dragon was a piece of pi$$ ... it realy was and that bugged me bigtime (my own fault I hyped the $hit outta that game for about 2 yrs !!).

I like all the "anal" stuff of collecting, learning and using the lore and what you learned (not character skills) actual knowledge from letters, books etc (you see the morrowind connection here!) stuff like that.

Turn of all the hud stuff and indicators etc then play Witcher like that .... great experience i think.

Ps guys do the same with MGS so sooooo massively more rewarding (ie hud off, map off , enemy highlighters off, reflex mode off) some may hate it but i guarantee for some it will make the game far far more realistic, tense and as I said reqarding (and you will get a helluva lot more skillful and aware.) It will benefit you massively come online mode. trust me guys
