No way will Wenger drop either of Santi or Ramsey.

It's a tough one. I fear for cazorla and Coq as a pair. Maybe ozil false nine with Theo right and Rambo in a mf trio. I can't see anything other than the Watford line-up though

Gabriel or Mertesacker to start?

This is exactly the kind of game where you wish we had another powerful, athletic CM to complement Coq. Like Gilberto-Viera or Petit-Viera partnership.

Just offer Bayern a few million to let Vidal play for us tonight.

Is anyone scared Wenger might actually start Giroud?

There is no way Wenger will drop Santi or Ramsay, but if I had to choose I would also start Ramsay as well. He obviously can't do what Cazorla does on the ball, but we are not going to have much of the ball and Ramsay can help Coq defensively. He is also more of a goal threat than Cazorla.

We're not winning tonight with Cazorla starting centrally.

No way Giroud is starting today. It plays perfectly into Bayern's hands. Perfectly. They can basically just camp in our half for 90 minutes with no worries about anything happening behind them.

don't put it past wenger, remember he scored at the weekend

I expect the same line-up as against United.

--------Cech--------
Bel----Gabby--Kossy--Monreal
----------Cazorla----Coq-----
Ramsey------Ozil-----Sanchez-
-------------Theo------------

Yes, basically the team that started the weekend.

Cazorla might actually bring the best out of Arsenal attack in these circumstances with his precise long range passing and ability to hold the ball and play the right ball and the right time....ONE of the most important thing needed to play counter attack....

Whatever he brings in to attack he gives up on defence specially against a team of calibre of Bayern..

I think people are underestimating Arsenal. Our pace, passing and counter could cause Bayern havoc..

A predict a high scoring game with a Draw but I hope Arsenal lose rest of all fixtures in CL then concentrate on PL..

Wenger said we will need the experience of kos and per. Hopefully a bluff cos Gabriel has to play head of per. Counter attacks will be lethal otherwise.

We really are lightweight in cm. I think our best bet is to go all out and hopefully grab a couple of early goals. We are the best team bayern will have faced yet.

Cazorla in the middle has been exposed in Europe. See Monaco, Zagreb and Olympiakos...

You don't think Theo is more suited to exploiting Bayern's pressing than Giroud?

posted on 20/10/15

I can see Bayern playing Alaba centrally to try and nullify Walcott's pace. Perhaps even three at the back to stop him running the channels.

Giroud might be able to trouble Alaba and co from an aerial, but then there's the problem with him being unable to exploit their high-line.

Not to sound pessimistic, but I can't imagine either one of our strikers will particularly relish the prospect of playing against this Bayern side.

Of course we have the players to exploit and trouble Bayern's defense. Not sure if you watched them recently but if you want to hurt Bayern Munich you will have to attack. If you wait in your own half and let them play they will overrun you.

We will have to find a good mixture between attacking and defending.

His endless and not reasonable argument that Bayern would camp in our half if we play Giroud upfront instead of Theo.

It's not depending on Giroud (or Theo) if our midfield is able to pass the ball and possess the ball when needed. This game will be decided in midfield and surely on us to avoid silly mistake at our back.

You are failing to acknowledge the role our striker will play in allowing our midfield to operate with enough space, freedom, and at the fast tempo that will be required tonight.
Yes the midfield battle and sufficient ball retention will be important, however the high line Bayern utilise to suffocate their opponents midfield, will surely be more wary of a pacey forward running in behind as opposte to a non pacey target man holding up the ball?

If they have to deal with the threat in behind of a pacey forward such as Walcott, could this not consequently give our midfield some more space to work with as it may cause Bayern to not play as high a line compared with if Giroud starts?

Pep has previously said how scared he is of Theo

so wenger left him on the bench for the return leg

Not sure if you read the whole comments on this thread.

I prefer Theo tonight to OG of course. Why? Because he is in a terrific form whereas Giroud suffered recently and has to find his form yet.

Giroud is not the quickest as everybody knows but it is a myth that you cant play on counter with him. Surely it is easier to find Theo from midfield because he run with the ball onto defender and goal and he is difficult to beat if he has the ball on his feet. It didnt work against Watford as we all could witness.

All depends on the quality of our passing/crossing from midfield and if OG plays from the wings.

To play Theo tonight is a lesser risk in that regard.
