I think England always have a chance with our bowlers. It does swing in SA and does go uneven near the end..so both ideal firstly for Anderson and secondly Broad.
As alwys the batting is the issue..Not convinced on hales. Think hes too flat footed to be an opener. Looks like hes gonna be bowled at any second. bairstow is on borrowed time.. he will be replaced again by Buttler if he fails in this series..

I think they'll give Hales a chance. They are so desperate for him to succeed. He's got about as much chance as Moeen had in UAE...

SA batting is all over the place and now they have opted that there best batsman AB to also wicket keep. Amla should really have stood down as skipper after India debacle. He is not a leader.

Having said all that the English batting is quite average too. Root is class, Cook is Cook but from the rest I think only Taylor can make it.

SA currently are all over the place, batting line up is shocking and the bowlers are injured or in doubt. SA are really struggling to find a couple of solid Openers.

Elgar (Not Good enough but no1 else)
new Opener
Amla
AB
Du Plessis
De Kock
JP Duminy
Styen
Harmar/Tahir
Morkal
Philander (Injured so either Rabada or Abbot)

That would be my SA Team with Faf staying at 5. Dont know why they are pushing him at 3/4 as hes not good enough.

Boy do they miss the worlds best ever all rounder in Kallis and Smith too.

Don't judge Saffers by their recent performances in India. Pitches were manipulated to say the least....Infact only today has the ICC given the Jamtha Stadium in Nagpur, which hosted the 3rd Ind SA Test, an official warning under its pitch monitoring process.

I think it's sweet you think about me all the time U2.

Anyway here's an overdue 1

Anyway, on topic... Why isn't Anderson bowling in the warmup games? And why do they appear to be going with Bairstow after Jos' heroics?

Anderson could miss out because of injury. Maybe Footitt will get a chance.

posted on 23/12/15

They wont go for footitt though.. They probably play woakes.. because that's how England do their selection. The left armer is a different angle. But the management go in with their favourites.. Just thinking about the series.. England wont win because we don't win away from home..we even lost away to the west-indies..
Anyhow this will probably cooks last series as captain thankfully..

Ben stokes will bat 6 and fail. But that doesent matter.. He can have a go at everyone.and bash his bat on the ground after driving the ball to 4th slip.. He would be averaging 18/19 in 19 tests if it wasn't for his 2 100s hes scored.
He did get a 100 the other day..means nothing in warm up games..
Its time he started to deliever some runs at 6.. As for mooen ali. times running out for him as the front line spinner.. time he delivered more consistently with the ball..

I may seem a bit annoyed today.. Its time England actually won a series away from home.. Its hard in SA but doesn't mean you cant win..England are paid the most in the world.. Infact the fat cats at ecb sold their souls to sky to make untold millions..
There is no live cricket at all on free to air tv anymore.. Time to do your job your paid to do..

Indians are well ahead of English salaries

posted on 23/12/15

englandwhoelse... By your logic If Cook hadn't scored his 28 hundreds he'd be averaging only 30...

Has Stokes banged your missus or something?

Last series as captain....?

Have you not watched any recent cricket...? If you had you would realised he's rapidly growing into one of the better international captains in the game.

posted on 23/12/15

hes flipping useless.. hes improved a little..But never been great..

posted on 23/12/15

theres a slight difference between Cook and Stokes..Cook as proven himself for a long period.. Stokes as been a failure with the bat for countless of innings.. I just look at the actual outcome of performance.

Bairstow fully deserves his test match place over Butler in my opinion, Bairstow had a wonderful season this year and has a far superior first class batting average than Butler, he also is way ahead on first class centuries by 16 to 4.

posted on 23/12/15

doesn't mean bairstow will do any better at international level.time will tell on that matter..

Jimmy's definitely out. Woakes is being tipped to come into the team.
