WTF bellator 149 looks imterresting!!!

Perhaps they can stick Eubank v Benn on the undercard too

Guv with all due respects to the great man. I find it hard for him to talk about Aldo's "bad strategy" based on 13 seconds. Aldo set himself up for a right and got caught. That could have happened in the last 10 seconds of the 5th.

I agree, he might have over commited, but that wasn't the strategy.

Jose best strategy was to go for an instant take down, as Conor is just as adept at pressuring a defensive fighter as he is sparking out an aggressive one.

He has an advantage on the feet over every fighter at 145 and 155, I think most fighters are starting to realise that.

I don't expect many fighters to attempt much in the way of striking with Conor in the future.

Guys like Cerrone, Edgar and RDA will be looking to get it to the mat ASAP, Cerrone is the one who has the least chance against Conor in my opinion coz even though he have very good submissions, I don't think he could get Conor down or keep him down if he does manage it.

Are we all conveniently forgetting that Mendes dominated Conor for 1.5 rounds with only 2 weeks notice? Conor is no great.

Cerrone has more than just submissions, he can take hits, he won his last 8 on the trott and only 2 of them were submissions

Sjb, I think my comment still stands. Imo, it was far too early into the fight to come to any conclusion on what Aldo strategy was going to be. If a whole round had passed without a decent take down attempt alla Rousey vs Holy, then Royce's statement would have had been justified. But 13 seconds? No way.

The element of surprise has gone now with Conor and that will only put the 155's on red alert. They'll not want to become another Conor victim thats come up from 145 and will have the natual weight and power to keep Conor in an uncomfortable zone i.e (as you say) on the mat. The more I think of the fighters up there waiting for him the more I feel he'll have to really concentrate on his ground game. If not then he's toast.

Guv, Royce was spot-on about Aldo now having something to aim for with the pressure being taken off. Unlike Rousey, I feel Aldo has the mental strength to get back up there.

This is a myth.

Conor dominated Mendes on the feet in the first round for 3 and a half minutes, I don't see how Mendes taking him down for the last minute and a half somehow out weighs the damage Conor did on his feet.

Conor outlanded Mendes 46 to 31 in round 1 (and most of Chads strikes where landed on the mat)

In my opinion Conor won round 1.

Round 2 Conor was on his way to losing until he got up and landed 20 unanswered shots and finishing Mendes in the process.

So 2 rounds to nil in my opinion.

I think so much had been made about what would happen if chad got a take down that people in the moment scored it far higher than it should have been scored.

Seriously, rewatch it without commentary.

Since 2 week Mendes always gets brought up It should also be noted that Conor had a terrible camp and weight cut, he was unable to do any wrestling until 10 day before the fight due to another partial tear of his ACL.

That was the worst Conor we have seen by a distance and he still got the win, credit where it's due.

How was a MCL tear in his control?

The only thing he could have done to not fight injured was pull out of the fight.

Conor's injury has been confirmed by his coach, his training partners, Dana White, it was also speculated before the fight that he was injured while rolling with Rory McDonald during the World tour.

It was confirmed the he had to have platelet rich plasma treatments in a LA and Germany just to make it to the fight....

Would you like a Doctor's note addressed to you Guv?

Guv, seems you were spot on with your predictions. Missed your opportunity to beats the bookies.

Not seen the fight yet but I read cowboy got mauled.

Guv, according to Dana, the X-Ray pic Aldos camp were showing was an old one that was related to a previouse fight. It was if Dana was poo-pooing Aldos excuse for pulling out of 189.

His training partners? Coaches?Dana white? So basically team mcgregor??

I want an x ray or medical proof. People thought aldo was lying about his injury till he showed x rays.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Conor didn't pull out of the fight, why would he want to prove an injury that he wanted hidden from his opponent at 189.

Stop hating, Conor is the greatest thing to ever happen to the UFC.

Both Nate and Dos Anjos called out Mcgregor so it will be interesting to see Conors next move. From an entertainment point Diaz vs Mcgregor would be a classic but stylistically Dos Anjos vs Mcgregor is a terrific fight, that fight is a lot more intriguing than the Aldo fight because Dos Anjos is a lot more rounded than Aldo.

2016 is going to be a good year for the UFC

Hopefully we get my boy Jon Jones back into the mix because he is the real undisputed king.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aldo is a well rounded as it gets.

Dos Anjos is very good but Aldo is better, what will make it interesting is the extra size that Dos Anjos has on him.

As a fan I would be just as happy to see Conor fight Dos Anjos as I would Edgar.

All 3 men are coming of big 1st round KO/TKO wins, I'm sure he'll fight them both at some stage anyway.

If I had to bet I think they will go for the Dos Anjos fight.

I can see them going for McGregor vs Diaz now.

McGregor wont want to go near Dos Anjos and it seems dana is pushing for him to move up a weight
