We entered a period where we had west ham, Norwich, Bournemouth, stoke, a woeful Chelsea side, Liverpool and saints to play.

It doesn't matter how good arsenal, spurs, city and Leicester are. A capable manager would have seen us well inside the top 4 with most of those fixtures.

We were missing a while defence and their back ups (Blind aside) for some of those games. Am the others players coming back from injury.

It's not been good enough, we all know that, but this article is about the players signed, not the form.

Yeah it looks like depays going to join the list of Kezman, kuyt and babels who have come from Holland not the likes of ruud sadly.

But martial looks good.

Agee we probs should of got IG instead bS

Morgan's a good signing but lvg is either not getting the best of him, then again players who leave saints usually need a season to adapt to other tactics. He will be very decent next year.

Martial has shown good promise

Darmians been pretty dreadful bar his first month

Mixed bag. The way we're playing isn't helping anything

"but this article is about the players signed, not the form."

And my view on that hasn't changed, we've bought relatively well, not brilliantly but haven't used them well enough. Put it this way, if LVG bought Alli we wouldn't be seeing anywhere near what we see from him at Spurs.

They have a more solid defence IMO that does not rely on too much midfield support like us,

They play Dier and Dembele in CM, usually very deep, most weeks.

-------

I also mentioned Alli as a player better than what we have. But take away Kane and Spurs go down to about 7th, he's their spearhead up front and everything involves him.

But you basically agreeing with my point, that they have Kane, Alli and a CB partnership much better than we have, and are rightfully battling with us for 4th.

We need our Kane, Alli and a CB. Not more squad players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't mean to get all hafi here gents, on what is an interesting read - but the part about Kane is rubbish.

We'd actually be a point better off, if you took Kane out of the team. His goals have won us no points this season, and after scoring an own goal (against Swansea?) have actually cost us a point.

Not if he had Rooney in front of him

posted on 26/1/16

Didn't know that, very interesting. He may not be directly involved in goals that won you points but no doubt he is a huge player for you guys. Would love to have him at United but I don't see him leaving any time soon.

The main reason you are currently above us isn't because I think you have a better squad (I'd argue that you don't) but that Poch has got far more out of the players and getting them working as a team, something LVG is failing to do.

I know you're obsessed with pinning everything on Rooney but we're also awful without him.

Our main problem is that we have a manager who is past it and not able to adapt to the PL and who players can't warm to because he's such a stiff

I'm Would this be the same Stoke who won tonight over a liverpool team you have been jiizing over for the last couple of months?

Or the woeful Chelsea team that beat arsenal, or the Southampton team that spanked arsenal a couple of weeks back?
The arsenal team that you claimed would win the league not that long ago?

Those easy games??

.........

Because we did not have any better. And that is lvgs main fault this year, thinking Rooney would be enough

posted on 27/1/16

I think they were all good signings. However the manager failed to address the 3 stooges, rooney, fellaini and mata

This will ultimately cost him his job

posted on 27/1/16

There was no issue with mata prior to the last few months.

No coincidence since his loss of form, we hardly create anything, as he was the only person assisting or scoring our goals.

It's really hard to tell how much is down to the players and how much is the tactics and man management of LVG. If the team in general was playing well and consistently winning it would be easier to pin it on individual players.

Memphis, I believe has something, and if he does fulfill his potential could be that game changer we need. Of course ideally in the coming years you would like a few. Imagine a front 3 of memphis martial and bale l, assuming the first two live up to the hype.

It's all well and good saying we need that game changer but to compete at the highest levels you need more than 1.

don tthink bale will be leaving madrid anytime soon tbf. hes had a much better season, ronaldo is getting older and they may have a transfer ban so coultn replace him anyway, and zidane seems a huge fan.

Yeah I don't think Bale is realistic.

We need our own Bale though, I just can't think of a single player with those attributes available.

Hazard worth spending £60m on?

posted on 27/1/16

We'll never get Hazard and tbh he's massively overrated

Hazard worth spending £60m on?

60m on a guy who hasnt scored a goal all season?

Absolutley not. He's been awful. And last season was hugely overrated.

he is actually the most overrated player in the world, or at least on par with john stones.
