Never buys the players we need
Not evolving and improving your team since about 2006, feels like Wenger desperarely tried to hang on to the invincible squad even when it started to age and needed freshening up.
Wenger desperarely tried to hang on to the invincible squad even when it started to age and needed freshening up.
=====
That is the complete opposite of what happened.
Vieira (05)
Pires (06)
Bergkamp (06)
Lauren (06)
Campbell (06)
Ashley Cole (06)
Ljungberg (07)
Henry (07)
Gilberto (08 - but was phased out long before that)
Lehmann (08)
Quite a dramatic loss of the key Invincibles.
Wengers biggest mistake was staying on when the money came in.
His biggest mistake in terms of the team was not being able to replace Vieira and instead going for tippy tappy football with lots of short players lacking physicality.
Also WIltord and Kanu both left at the end of the 03-04 season, Keown went at the same time as did Ray Parlour.
His refusal to strengthen is his biggest issue. Money is there and the board are very open about this.
I can't believe he didn't leave after winning the FA cup 2 seasons ago.
Virtually ruined his legacy
Not leaving 2 years ago when his last contract was up. When we got thrashed 6-0 by Chelsea that season in his 1000th game I said to myself "surely Arsene now knows he can't carry on".
He had his chance to leave after winning that FA cup, he would've been well respected by nearly all Arsenal fans if he'd done that. Instead the stubborn mule decided to carry on and will most likely be hounded out by the same fans in the end.

I did say tried to
what I mean Is he tried to keep them around but failed and sought of delusinally refused to accept them leaving and thus refused to replace them with players similar to them, like Viera as you said.

The only ones he tried to keep were Cole, Vieira and Henry (and even the latter two he gave up on at least a year before he flogged them). Players like Lehmann, Gilberto, Pires, Bergkamp, Ljungberg, Lauren were phased out before they left.
Glad to see more and more fans come to the conclusion that wenger has past his sell by date. A lot of the wenger fans boys would make articles about oil money but even those guys have now dissapeared
He makes a number of mistakes repeatedly that I would not expect from a top Manager. The biggest one might be that he failed to realize when it is time to go. IMO he had 2 chances: in 2007 when the era of the invincibles was finished and in 2011/12 when the rebuilding had failed and Fabregas/Nasri left.

That's strange
I'll take your word for it
John Harper's last convert.
Where does one even begin so many categories.
Players leaving
Not offering Cole more money
Letting Pires go to early
Letting Viera go to early
Letting Gilberto go to early
Giving up on Eduardo because we changed the system he was amazing in
Letting RVP go
Letting Song go
Letting Sagna go
Player recruitment
Buying Park
Buying Santos
Buying Gervinho
Buying Silvestre
Buying Podolski
Buying Arteta as a replacement for Fabregas
Buying Giroud as a replacement for RVP
Lack of player recruitment
Not replacing Nasri
Not replacing Song
Only buying Ozil and Flamini two seasons ago
No outfield players last summer
Not getting Higuain when available
Not getting Suarez when available (50 mill)
Not getting a DM for years
Allowing players to regress
Arshavin
Vermaelen
Walcott
Oxlade Chamberlain
Alexis
Cazorla (goal scoring)
Ramsey
Having faith in crocks
Rosicky
Arteta
Wilshere
Diaby
Vermaelen
Random changes of system
4-1-4-1 of 2014-2015 anyone?
Yet inability to change tactics when need to
4-4-2 anyone?
The horrendous drubbings to rivals for years
Never beating Mourinho
Awful substitutions
Faith in awful players
The socialist wage structure
Bendtner and Djourou being in starting line ups against Barcelona
Can't train defenders
New one to add, utter disrespect to the fans
Not signing a top CF is surely up there. How he can even think Giroud is up there in the Henry, Anelka, Wright, Bergkamp class amazes me.
Selling the rapist to utd lost all respect for him after that.
His biggest mistake is that trusts in the players too much how many times have we heard we can't buy a player because it will harm another player's career. What he seems to forget he's employed by Arsenal to put together a winning team not be concerned about how an individual will feel if another player is brought in that could replace that said player.
He simply isn't ruthless no matter how morally wrong it is the likes of Wilshire and Diaby before him should of been dumped years ago. We as a club can't afford to carry anyone and in reality right now there is four or five players in the squad who contribute absolutely nothing to the team meaning we are at disadvantage to all the other teams before we even start.
Not keeping Pires on at least one more season.
Criminal.
I heard a quote the other day from a manager from years ago and he said never fall in love with your players.

Good question.
Fast counter attacking football, one touch passing with purpose, forward, ruthless attackers....players over 6 foot
To, slow build up, endless passing and no shooting with players around 5ft 7inches tall
Bizarre.

What he probably meant by that is, "don't make the same mistake as me and fall in love with your players".
Not replacing David Dein. Not replacing Vieira. Not replacing RVP. Getting read of anyone wanting to voice their opinions ie taking leadership out of the players.
As for Wenger's biggest mistake..? Easy.
Being too proud to ever admit he was wrong.
The more often people ask AW to buy tall, physical and good players again the more he wants to buy 11 pixies.
