A manager doesn't instruct you to not mark or be in the right defensive positions.

Let's put it this way, if stones wasn't good on the ball, would he be rated?

if John Stones had Chris Smalling's ability on the ball he'd be playing for Tranmere Rovers

Looks quite promising. We are on a good run of form as well. 6 wins in 8 PL games. Beat West Ham. Beating Everton, just that Spurs demolishing was a slight blip.

The English media are desperate to hype up any young CB who can play to break the stereotype that English CBs have no ability on the ball.

To be honest, I haven't seen anything about stones that suggests he could be the next pique or varane. The odd half decent pass and risky cryuff turn doesn't mean he is a good ball playing CB
