i think wearing ur shirt on holiday is acceptable because u might be in pub watching games on sky sports. also its a chance to show off your fav team with pride while amongs ppl from all different parts of the uk and world wide.
random ppl walking down your street on a thursday afternoon or in the supermarket are just weirdos!

It's better on the eye when chicks wear the shirts....

I have always found foreign football shirts somehow more acceptable for people to be wearing if only for a novelty value.

In general I think its a bit odd for a grown man to wear a strip on non match days but then maybe thats just me. I dont even wear one then but as Town have lost every game I have worn one too my supersticion got the better of me a long time ago!

My holiday was not spoilt one bit Wethers! Can't quite see where I wrote that either! He was just one example, as there more others! Mainly Mancs with southern accents.

I can only condone grown men wearing their shirt on matchdays, but only if they are attending the match and perhaps when they are playing 5 of side with their mates at goals for example. Any other time, its a big no no!

I never asked for a life, I asked what you thought was acceptable!

england shirts worn by idiots is never helpfull to our cause..

probably the people who think its being a patriot to wear the shirt and do stupid things in it whilst drunk.. when they sing rule britannia or god save the queen it makes me feel ill...

we could use them in afghanistan to find the IEDS..??

seems a more usefull/cheaper way of enabling them to be "patriots"...

Don't think I've worn a Town shirt since I was a kid Inter, but that's just me. My son takes his on holiday. Wearing one everyday is a but much though, but other than that, I see no probs in wearing yer club colours. Each to their own I suppose

I'm going to Turkey at the end of this month [tactically booked so I only miss Stevenage at home] and I shall be taking with me 2 football shirts. The Town shirt will be pulled out only on match day as I too feel this is the only acceptable day, and our lass just generally wouldn't allow it any other day . I shall also be taking with me the new England away shirt to wear when we walk to the markets one of the days because I think it's bloody lovely. It's also worth mentioning they'll only be worn during the day and not at night, those who wear their football shirts like best shirts on evenings aren't quite right in the head...

I'll 'try' & answer Inter'

Whats acceptable......... IMO, the replica shirt thing has been done to death now... Bit daft I reckon, OK, maybe not too bad if your at the game, But even in the pub, It's a bit 4r$e I reckon......
Besides being 'a rip off' too. ( I bet all these years on they are still made for little more than a 'fiver' somewhere out in the far east......Madness)

Where & how did it all start ? Can anyone confirm, refute, counter claim or agree...........
I'd say the 1st I was aware of the 'crowd' wearing replica's was the Likes of Hull RLFC & Hull KR back in the mid seventies...ages before the football crowds copied the trend..... yeah, nah ????

Agree 100% Cas! Totally not right in their heads! Some interesting views on what is acceptable, but it's safe to assume most of us avoid football wearing shirt families!

I also take a HTFC towel to have around the pool in the hotel, it works as something of a conversation starter. The football shirt wearing families are usually scousers or mancs in Liverpool/United shirts and are just chavvy in general. Then there's always the fat southern bloke in a United shirt who tries to start talking about football but you just walk away...

My brother brought back a Barcelona shirt from Spain and wore it back in the early 60's...but not for going to the pub in, cycling, local footy on the rec etc when people used to just wear their t-shirts (pre sportswear days).

The only Town shirt i ever wear is the millenium change strip, On a matchday i find it easier to wear no colours whatsoever, Easier access to any pubs and clubs that can be for "home fans only", The milly strip is only worn on a lounging summers day as it is just a nice strip.
I do however occasionnaly sport my Giants shirt home and away weather permitting as it is a totally different atmosphere in the boozers.
I will however have to agree with whoever regarding foreign shirts in that wherever i go i usually find myself buying the shirt of the local side ie - Espanyol (not Barca) and i have Red Bull Salzburg shirt, But i must admit i prefer a nice Lacoste or Perry.
