Pompey 3-1 Rovers
Rowe to score
Crowd 16.700

Hope that I continue to get the scores wrong.

I think your observations are very accurate Azza. It's a question of our unpredictable away form which has been quite respectable compared with the end of last season with losses this time only against what seem to be the stronger teams vs their vulnerability at home.

Pompey have had some really disappointing results at home in League 2 in previous seasons and the pressure for them to win there is worse than we have at the Keepmoat, but it is a place where we have won in the past with a good atmosphere.

If you judge our chances based on our potential against those teams which have managed results there in past seasons you might say we could win, but looking at the current season they do seem to be turning it round at Fratton Park.

So 1-2 to them (Marquis) 16000.

A narrow loss would not be damaging, but a win would be a huge boost at a time when it is really needed. The points difference between the top 3 or 4 and those half way is only small and we really need to keep in touch.

Psycogically a defeat would be very bad.
That would mean just one point from nine and a potential drop to halfway or so in the division.
A win would put some daylight between us and the majority of the chasing pack.
Some people have said that being in the top three at this stage of the season isn't important but to me that is codswallop, it is better to be In the top three than out of it at any time of the season.
Hopefully the boys can turn up like they did at Morecambe but I still fear for us defensively.

2-2 draw Williams to score crowd 16199

Also a 2-2 draw with Williams (if he starts, otherwise Rowe), crowd 16485

Just a comment on penalties; over the last few seasons we have claimed we have not got enough, but this year has been more abundant. Why do we miss them? I'd keep Rowe as our taker as the last one was inches off scoring.
That penalty could be considered marginal, but I'm amazed the ref did not give one when Williams was pushed over.

Morning all from a rainy Yorkshire Dales.I've come back to God's county for a long weekend break walking in the Yorkshire Dales based about 2 miles from Muker.
Today's game potentially reunites us with three ex Rovers players.
Kyle Bennett, Edna Stephens and Milan Lalkovic , although looking at the team Portsmouth put out against Blackpool Tuesday night I doubt if all three will play.
Fratton Park is a fantastic old ground and the home fans generate a noisy reception for all that play on their manor.
Their fans must be as frustrated as we are as both teams can play like world beaters one week and the Chuckle Brothers the next.
My own personal memory of Fratton Park involves Daryl Pugh missing an open goal right in front of the Rovers fans.
Like most of you I think that it will be raining goals this afternoon, but I'm not sure that we will end the victors.
3-2 Pompey
Butler to score first
A whopping 18,000 ( if only we had that support ).
Ps
I will raise a pint of Black Sheep to you all tonight, let's hope my prediction is wrong.

Make that 4 ex players, how could I forget Curtis Main.
I have been reading some online articles from the Portsmouth media, they reckon that Curtis Main will be recalled for today's game. If he plays like he did for us , then Marosi might as well bring his towel and flip flops.
No doubt he will get dogs abuse from the Rovers fans after last season's farce of not returning from loan back to Donny.Although it would not have made much difference.
Paul Cook also says he intends to make changes after the defeat to Blackpool on Tuesday night, but he is unsure on how many players will be rotated.

After Tuesday the most encouraging part was playing the second half without giving up the lead. Good win.

This was a critical game and a narrow defeat would have been forgivable. It did sound rather on a knife edge at times, but for once we had the luck and it has the obvious effect on a serious rival.

Plymouth who are racing away have not been up against nearly as many of the stronger teams as we have, so perhaps we might hope to close the gap on them when they have been properly tested and we have had some easier ones.

Just a quick summary really.

Williams and Marquis both worked hard and offered quite a bit. Both players took there goals well. As mentioned previously maybe a bit of criticism towards Williams for not being as prolific as we'd hope may inspire him to go on another run.

Defensively the problems are still there and our inability to clear corners cost us again yesterday albeit also a poor poor Wright clearance set us there lad for a good finish.

We still seem to be reluctant in shutting down crosses from out wide. Evina again similar to Carlisle and luton previous and on the other side with Richardson before he went off.

Don't get me wrong it's a terrific result but I do feel if we would have been up against a more brighter attack we may have been on the end of a loss. But this result should carry us onto a nice run especially as a lot of teams in and around us drew and lost.

Well done lads.
