Has as many league goals as your top scorer
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's great. Wouldn't want him anywhere near our team. He's a plodder. Always has been and always will be.
Takes a mean penalty like I said. Runs around a lot.

His stats would argue otherwise, but whatever you say
Stats this season say fellaini is one of our best passers. Thats because he passes backwards 5 yards at a time.
I've watched Milner over 100 times in his days (Leeds all the way to Liverpool & engand) he's a trier and a runner. But he's bang average. Taking 4 penalties isn't going to change my mind.
Is he up there with great PL midfielders? No. He's nowhere near them.
I wonder how big the difference is between Milner's wage and Zlatan's...

Well to be fair Zlatan has won 12 titles in his last 15 league seasons. In which he's been instrumental in many of them. He's also his country's all time record scorer.
Milner isn't even your best midfielder. In fact he's being played left back.
Not a Liverpool fan, mate

We're discussing him as a left back. That's kind of the point.
But if we're going to discuss him as an attacking midfielder...
http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#premier_league/2015/2016/james_milner/641/165/84/36/p|premier_league/2015/2016/david_silva/641/165/308/0/p|premier_league/2015/2016/riyad_mahrez/641/165/11509/0/p#pass_completion/chances_created/key_passes/assists/goals_scored#total
Interesting how close his stats are to Silva and mahrez last season.
I don't care what that says. I can make my own judgement. I don't rate him. It's a not a Liverpool thing either as I rate some of your other players a lot more highly.
Never got Milner. Like i said for England, Leeds, Villa, City, Liverpool.....I think he's just a trier. Not a patch on likes of Silva. Or Gerrard. Or Scholes. Or lampard. In fact he's a million miles off what they are / were.
Just my opinion.
Also.....you're all being clever now but in June had you had the chance to sign Pogba, you'd have dumped Milner for him no worries and you know it.
Brilliant! Actual factual evidence dismissed, purely because you don't really like him.
For 89 million pounds? I definitely wouldn't. I'm happy with what we have currently, and don't think Pogba is 60 million better than Wijnaldum for instance.
Shockingly, your club's "throw money at it until it works" philosophy doesn't suit everyone.
Let's be honest, Pogba has hardly set the league alight so far. Milner has scored us 4 important goals. Penalty spot or not.
Milner is a great penalty taker. That's about it.
===============================
Had comparable stats to Pogba last year, albeit he had more assists than the worlds most expensive player, yet was playing in a much harder league.
Been far better than Pogba this season so far also.
'I don't care what that says'.
=======================
Your club has almost spent as much as mine has in PL era and you have how many titles to show for it? .....Go on enlighten me. So don't talk about wasting money.
We have 13 to show for our spend FYI.
Also we can afford Pogba. And no he hasn't set world alight yet although there are signs he's warming up. He didn't have a pre season and has played almost a year without a break too with France going to final euros. Not so easy.
I however don't write players off after 6 games or so.
We also have Mikhitaryan to come in yet. Season has barely got going.
'although there are signs he's warming up.'

What does previous spending under other regimes have to do with this conversation?
In our current incarnation, Liverpool football club are never going to be breaking transfer records.
That isn't to say we won't be spending money, but we made a profit in the last window.
And it seems to be working ok for us this season.
You seem very defensive, considering I only refuted your assertion that I'd definitely have taken Pogba given the opportunity.
I was actually trying to have a reasonable discussion. Clearly expecting too much.

Are you familiar with that moment when someone loses an argument and then tries to cover it up with unfunny insults?
How have I lost a an argument? I have to rate Milner because they do?
There are millions of football fans in this country who don't rate him. I'm not alone. I'm sure there are plenty who do too. It's called an opinion.
If you're happy with him then great. He's doing no harm to me.

It was more the insistence on proving you were "better" than us, "we've won so many titles and have so much money."
Seemed a little against the previous tone of the conversation was all
We are better than you. We are in history. 20 - 18. We finished higher last season. And we've won the last 5 league encounters. Your win last season came in Ropey league.
Ypu've started season better than us. So have Everton. Are they better than us too? Long way to go yet boys. You lot should know.
Had Jose started team he did last week and today from start of season, we'd be 2nd now. He's found out hard way Fellaini and Rooney aren't good enough.

Christ on a bike, where did that come from?
This is what I'm saying. We were discussing the merits of James Milner potentially being in the England squad.
All of a sudden, you've turned it into a United vs Liverpool pissing contest.
For literally no reason. I genuinely don't understand it.
It's almost as if you're trying to convince yourself as much as anyone else.
No it's because you can't accept my opinion on him just because you don't agree with it.
I also seem to remmeber after you lot beat Spurs 3-0 away a few seasons ago that Moreno was "best left back in league". Look how that turned out for you. Opinions and form changes.
I like a lot of Liveprool's players.. Countinho n Firmino are both quality players. Mane is exciting and a real threat.
Had Milner not been selected as penalty taker this season, we wouldn't even be discussing him.
