In any season a point at Anfield is a good result.
----
Absolutely true.
For my part, I'm delighted with the point because I was expecting a defeat.
Turns out the only loser last night was football. Don't mistake me, I fully appreciate the art of changing tactics to deal with different opponents. What I'm struggling to reconcile with is such an unambitious Man United performance. We absolutely controlled the pace and atmosphere for about 75 minutes, but you always knew a single goal would win it for Liverpool.
As good as Liverpool are, without any disrespect to how much they've improved this season, they are no Barcelona or Real Madrid. I would like to see less fear in our tactics. If we haven't yet got the squad or players to go toe to toe with a team like Liverpool then it's a sad indictment of our recent transfer policy.
I won't be surprised to see Liverpool finish above us this season if we play every big game in that fashion.

Oh, and I didn't give you one star by the way.

United have historically managed pretty good results against Liverpool - even in the years when Liverpool were dominant. I don't think either side emerged with great credit last night. Herrera had a very good game for United and Valencia (surprisingly) played well. At least it silences the media Liverpool fan club, if only for a while.

Neither team deserved the win, so it was the right result. The way the game was played is a sad indictment of the difference between the Premier League and La Liga. Can't imagine any of the Barca or Madrid fans tuned into the second half, as we might with El Classico.
It's a sad state of affairs when mid-way through the second half I was thinking to myself "both these teams are so far off the level City are at."

Right result.
An early goal would have changed everything but the game just never got going.

Reckon with better subs we could've nicked it. Would have loved to have had Martial to bring off the bench.
Would've taken a 0-0 before the game though, so no complaints from me

What do we think ?
We fancy ourselves for a top 4 challenge and I don't think that's a stretch is it.

No, it isn't.
You're a better team than us, for sure. We haven't clicked yet. I think that we're pretty even man for man, if we get Mkhitaryan fit, and Martial back to form and fitness.

Point was the fair result and a good one too. I think Liverpool really missed Lallana and Wynaldum, had both started I think we would have seen a different first half. But then we also missed some key players. Liverpool will still be fighting at the top and we will improve.

The new pool keeper looked very windy. He wasn't tested much. Made a horrible hash of one cross, but Zlatan was too busy fouling the centre half.

I think you'll see teams with less to lose (or more ambition) pressing that keeper quite aggressively.
