So a new champ or one that hasn’t won it in 50 odd years. Who’s the favourites, OKC?

Okc comfortably

Breakdown:
Knicks - awesome 6/7 man rotation play very stodgy basketball which is the incredible Brunson dominated. Then three defensively great wings and Towns who got traded last summer surprisingly from the Wolves as a salary dump
Pacers - who are real deep, Halliburton is great at passing and they run more than anyone else and just run and pass and run and pass. Great fun to watch
OKC - all time historic defence, legitimately have 6 guys who could make all defence teams (Caruso & Dort ridiculous, Wallace and Williams incredible, Hartenstein and Chet some of the best defending bigs). Then even SGA who is the ‘weak link’ defensively is still a good defender who led the league in steals last year
Wolves - largely similar than last year except their second best player Towns who they traded for Randle isn’t helping. Randle took a while to adjust but has been incredible for the wolves - who are defensively very solid themselves
Those OKC trades from KD 9 years ago and onwards are paying rewards now. What a young team, and chance to make history.

Not to be a pedant but technically KD went on a free
This occurred cos they traded Ibaka for Oladipo (and draft rights who became Sabonis) then traded Oladipo and Sabonis for PG13, then George for SGA + picks
Edin. Very good long term project though regardless. So many teams have tried and failed over that period.

It’s never been done before, even OKC in their wildest dreams couldn’t have imagined how good SGA became. They still have the best draft capital of any team in the league, and are probably the best team in the league
