Poor game but I expect this. We're in transition - maybe the most significant transition of the many we've endured the past few seasons.
I am a little concerned about Shaw though. He looks completely lost. Defending poorly, looks unfit and unsharp, seems bereft of confidence and isn't even getting on the overlap or being moderately adventurous going forward. Before his injury he was bursting past players with pace and power, getting beyond his opposite number and being a good attacking outlet for us as well as a rock defensively.
I know he's had the injury but he's been back in action of some sort since the end of last season.
See, you go as full strength as you can in the league cup, and we rest a load, and look what happens in the next two games...
