LRG, we both came over here and made tennis articles!
Although I admit that yours is slightly more serious than mine.
By the way my recent love of tennis has absolutely nothing to do with Nadal....or his arms.....*ahem*
But I did find myself getting really in to Sundays match and am enjoying it a lot more now that I've had the scoring system explained to me. And we all know blokes just like explaining things to us girls
Of course it hasn't got anything to do with his arms! Or anything that sounds similar ...
I like a bit of tennis - am watching Queens on t'interweb right now. I'm more of a Federer fan though ... there's something about him that I can't put my finger on, but it's fair to say that I find him a little bit attractive. His tennis style that is ...
The tennis board on 606 was stuff of legends - I hope this place is as good!
Ah well you may well see me knocking around here a bit more often then.
I'm watching the Murray game on that there world wide web as well
Sunday was brilliant. Me and my friend only stopped into the pub for a quick pint, saw the tennis was on and it turned into a rather long drinking session
The unplanned ones are always the best, aren't they?
I find the tennis fans take things very seriously - I once wrote something on 606 comparing tennis players to Premier League clubs and almost started a world war. I've learnt my lesson about criticising any tennis player publically because they all seem to have very enthusiastic fans!
The cricket board has a much slower pace.
Actually me and the person I was with were talking about Federer on Sunday and comparing him to Arsenal in that he had the ability but kept making silly mistakes and throwing his leads away. Like how many times did he hit the net!?! Someone on another forum said it's because he was playing on clay though and he plays better on grass.
Also Federer was wearing Red and so do Arsenal most of the time
Just seen a shot of murray wiping the sweat off his brow.
I think at the time I wrote the article (which I admit, I shamelessly ripped off from someone else) Federer was the best in the world - a sort of Barcelona type. But I definitely see where you're coming from with that analogy. Djokovic was like the Arsenal Invincibles until recently.
Hello GoonerGirl! Murray is a bit yukky, isn't he?
I've never done what you are talking about, only queued on the morning, usually getting there about 8am.
If you go to Wimbledon Train station I know you can get a bus (which every one has to pay for) which takes you to the end of the queue. Here is a link to the prices - The ground ticket cost for the 1st week being £20.

If you are the chatty type I'm sure you will easily get talking to someone while you are in the queue!
At 5pm you can buy tickets for the centre or court one at a reduced price.
Many things are explained in a small booklet they hand out in the queue.
That's me done now and well done for understanding the scoring system, now all you have to do is if you don't follow cricket start watching that so someone can explain the LBW law!!
Yuck I can't stand Murray.
FOURTHREE way ahead of ya. I'll be explaning cricket to her next time we're in a pub and its on
now all you have to do is if you don't follow cricket start watching that so someone can explain the LBW law!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coincidentally, I just wrote an article on the cricket board asking for someone to guide me through the complications of my first season as a cricket fan. I'm trying to broaden my sporting horizons!
I use to go every year, joined the queue quite early at about 7.00 am, and even then it was iffy that you would get Centre court tickets, possibly court 1, but rarely Centre court. Too much hospitality there for the upper class that are not even interested in tennis, but just like to be seen there.
I don't reckon I'd ever be able to get tickets for the centre court or court one but it would be good do go for the atmosphere. Already planning to head up to the common on the finals day and watch on the big screen
Update. I went along after work and it was incredibly easy to get on to the grounds. We joined the queue to get in at about 6 and were inside before 7. Then headed straight to the ticket re-sale tent where they were selling tickets for courts 1 and 2 and centre court for £5 (all going to charity) and got amazingly lucky to be issued with two seats for the front row of court 1 where we caught the last couple of hours of the Tsonga game Such an awesome first time Wimbledon experience. I'm planning on going on Monday (heat wave FTW) and have the day off work so can get up there a bit earlier and have a proper look around.
Pleased to read you enjoyed your experience of Wimbledon. Watching sport live is always better.
You say you want to get up their a 'bit earlier' does this mean you will not be going the whole day or still thinking about this?
When it all finishes next Sunday you can think about planning for Wimbledon 2012!!
One day I would like to go for a whole day. We went again yesterday afternoon. Got in the queue for about 4pm and got on the grounds before 6. Apparently they'd reached full capacity at 9am yesterday and there was a 7 hour wait for people still in the queue! It seems that unless you actually have tickets through the ballot, you're better off either getting there at silly o'clock in the morning or going down for the evening after work.
