So when people go up with a high boot and eyes are on the all, it shouldn't be a foul.
Baffled with the fact that no one else has said anything about the Alonso goal. If that arm hit the goalkeeper rather than the defender it would have been a foul
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If it's your team scoring it's ok, if against you you'd be at least a little miffed. Personally I would have disallowed it for a foul.
Bellerin could have protected himself by leaving his arm extended in a raised position aimed towards Alonso although I'm not convinced he was aware of his incoming challenge.
Contes' amusement at the goal standing said it all and he said only in the PL would it have stood. None of the other main European leagues would have allowed the goal to count.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow , you certainly know how to take a manager's comment and rewrite it in a different context. A future in sports journalism beckons.
However, for those interested in the truth, Conte actually expressed bemusement that anyone had even queried it foul. He said that in England it would never be a foul, maybe in Italy, but in England never.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He said that in England it would never be a foul to me is the same as only in the PL would it have stood. How many times in the last say twenty years can you recall a manager saying a dubious goal or penalty awarded in their favour should not have stood. Contes' response yesterday is probably as near to a manager admitting such a thing as you are likely to see.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have a weird interpretation of language. You wrote at Conte's amusement that the goal had stood when he actually expressed bemusement that anyone had even queried the goal.
Totally false interpretation of his comments.
Stephen Hunt only had eyes for the ball when he fractured Petr Cech's skull.......never a foul apparently.

You're probably right. The same faux-neutrality as Tyler.
I was driving during the game so heard about the incident on the radio before I saw it. The radio made it sound like assault but when I watched it I'm not sure Alonso did a lot wrong.
Both players went for the ball, the arms were up but I wouldn't call it a swinging elbow as such. It was tough for Bellerin but fouls aren't determined by the outcome to another player.
Personally I don't think it was a foul. Bellerin just came off badly from a clash which happens in games. Hope the recovers quickly but I think the ref got it right.
Respect GNev, Klopp is a fraud
GN just went in hard on Klopp while defending Wenger

Hate is a strong word

Le me rephrase...
Most Spurs fans feel the same way about Chelsea as they do Arsenal.

True , regardless of my opinion for the first goal Refs dont always give those as fouls I know.
Chelsea deserved the result anyway

No problem...
btw, i think Gary Neville, tries his best to be neutral.
he's said some silly things against UTD as well.. but he's got a job to do.
and he is very good at it, but it's all about interpretation isn't it... i mean, if he didn't see it as a foul, then why mention it...

Planet des Singes.
The producer probably had a word in his ear.
"All you've done for 90 minutes is knock Wenger and Arsenal. You even said that Alonso absolutely battered Bellerin. At no point have you realised that if everyone played 3-4-3 counter attack, the game would be finished. Be kind to Wenger."
