I think you missed my point, this cup match gives us a chance to put together a compact side against lower opposition.
Yes I see your point, but dont you think our league position is more important.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So are you suggesting that as a team going forward in the League?

Not a chance of CR making alterations like that and running with it, more chance of him coming out and saying we're sh!te and I don't know what to do about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Plus you left Drinkwater in the team, his confidence is shot and he was the worst player on the pitch today.
............................................................................................
Yes its a team for the league with a practice run in the cup.
Yes Drinky is in, but this line up might give him back the confidence he is missing.
I dont think leaving him out would do his confidence any good.

C O E .....................

That teams almost the same as mine, but like I said Mahrez is coasting through games with not a tackle in sight, no tracking back and only half hearted attack.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I know but he's our most creative player and we need him to create not defend. If the players behind him are better and I think that defence would be, then maybe he wouldn't need to do so much defensive work.

Him and Slimani have a good understanding, they're best mates and together there is a chance that they can pull us out of this. Algeria scored five goals at the AFCON and they both scored two and set one up. This is a partnership we really need to utilise, we're running out of options.

Not sure why we don't just play Slim on his own?

Because he needs service.

Cant you see that the way we lump it forward and into the box that the only viable option is Slimani? Have you not noticed the goals he's scored in only 11 PL starts and how many of those games we won, how many we scored and how few we conceded?

No wonder I misunderstood you, I never would have imagined anyone would suggest that.

Well I thought he was our Messi/Ronaldo/Suarez and Pele rolled into one?

Nev, where do you get the stat from that Zieler has one more clean sheet the Schmeichel this season? The stats I see suggest that Schmeichel has 4 clean sheets from 17 in the Prem and that Zieler has 1 from 8.

The stats say Zieler played one match in the CL, although I can't recall which one. But I distinctly remember Schmeichel keeping 2 clean sheets in the CL. So I'm not sure where the Zieler's clean sheets > Schmeichel's clean sheets come from.

As for Zieler being in the German national squad, he has been but never as number 1. Schmeichel has been Danish number 1. His father was once probably the best goalkeeper in the world, but your argument would go that the German number 3 at the same time would be better by definition?

If you don't like Schmeichel then so be it, but at least admit that it's personal.

No he's simply a solution to a problem. If all we have is a long ball and a cross into the box, which IS all we have, then why wouldn't Slimani be the blatantly obvious choice?

Do long balls aimed at head height and crosses into the box suit Vardy? Okazaki? Musa? Gray? Nope. Ulloa? Yeah but he's not as good with his head as Slimani, nowhere near. Ulloa does need the ball
in his nose but Slimani makes runs to get into position to make sure it's on his nose. Big difference between the two.

Ranieri isn't instructing the players to hit it long, he said as much in a post match interview but the players are still doing it because they're utterly clueless and aren't good enough as footballers to do anything different. Only Mahrez has the ability to, nobody else does.

It looked to me that CR at half time must have told them to stop lumping it forward all the time. They definitely came out at least trying to pass the ball - even if the entire defence looked really uncomfortable with the ball at their feet. Yes, the first half was shockingly bad (as usual), but I thought they looked a bit better 2nd half

The team selection did amaze me though. Was it Einstein that said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different result"

Dung its personal as in its my view but not on whether hes a good bloke or does not care. As i keep saying i don't believe he gives he defense any confidence in fact the reverse. If Ron gets a run out and does the same or continue to punch balls he should catch i will give him a hard time.

Does anyone think he had a good game yesterday did not even stick a paw out for the second and miss judging a corner and ending up on his arris

If we are going to say no one is untouchable no matter how bad they play?

Nev, you surely can't have seen Zieler earlier this season because for everything you level at Schmeichel (not commanding his area, reluctance to come for crosses, punching instead of catching, defence completely uncertain what he's going to do), Zieler was 10 times worse. In fact if you weren't putting names in there I would genuinely assume you were describing Zieler.

The problem is Zieler has looked an absolute liability in every single game he's played and that's no exaggeration. I don't understand why you're not crucifying him for his punching at Derby? Does that mean you don't mind him punching away shots into his chest that should be caught all day long. He catches nothing. If that had been Schmeichel you'd have been all over it and you know it so how come Zieler can get away with it?

I'm sorry but you're totally inconsistent, it can't be ok for one keeper to punch and instil no confidence in the defence but not the other. I understand you used to be a keeper but that just makes your opinion that Zieler is a better keeper all the more baffling, he simply isn't.

A more eloquent version of what I was trying to get at.

Kasper for me should of done better with the second, but he isn't even the issue. We have bigger problems throughout the team.

COE i did give him dogs abuse at the match for the punching of the ball when it was easier to catch perhaps this punching things catching pun! Or are they being coached to do it?

You can't say hes not part of the problem he keeps kicking when told not to he's glued to the line and gives the back four more not less work to do. How many balls yesterday where around the six yard box could he of got to?

1. How do you know he's told not to kick it?
2. Who looks like the wants the ball from him? Huth? Morgan? Expect it straight back again with added pressure.
3. Look what happened when he tried to throw it.

Yeah exactly, playing the ball out to Morgan or Huth is suicide and give it to Simpson or Fuchs all they'll do is hit it down the line anyway.
