When he was injured should have spent his time getting fitter instead of shopping and globetrotting watching his wife play tennis. Senior players voiced this as an issue. No loss as he resembled Mrs Doubtfire when he arrived and his backside got no smaller watching tennis, total waste of money.

Yes, because anyone who watches tennis or goes to the shops can't possibly be keeping fit, can they?

Oh dear me.

Yup, as I said people have very short memories.

And as for the waste of money - and between wages, signing on fees, golden goodbyes etc it must have added up - what really grates is that when they sold him the Bayern hierarchy basically said "great player, if in good shape we'd never sell him, but he's a crock, so yours".

They also said what Jose was doing was a disgrace and that they would happily take him back to then make absolutely so offer to take him back.

It does seem that way. I'm going to leave him in his own little deluded bubble.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bastians gone. Jose was right not to entertain the thought of making him a first team player bar games against the likes of Wigan
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeh Jose was right not to rotate his squad more and utilise a player like schweinsteiger

And then let him leave coming into the busiest part of the season

Bastian isn't up to playing in the top flight anymore.

Hence why at 32 he's off to the US.

Like Defoe wasn't up to it when he left?

Defoe hasn't had years and years of injury problems though

No. Clearly not doing enough. Oh dear another fitness expert with German descendants.
Senior players voiced concerns, you do understand that bit don't you?

You can never admit you've made a mistake, can you?

Fact is, not every player who heads west is incapable of playing top flight football anymore.

Winston

No, the fact is we know very little but there has been little evidence to suggest Bastian does still have what it takes to play at the highest level. You've also pretty much completely ignored the fat Jose has always operated small first team squads.

He's 32. If he still 'had it' he could go to a number of clubs in Europe. But as he's off to the US he's finished.

If Jose thought he had something to give he would be playing every week much as Zlatan and Carrick are.

By being seen at the shops?

You really are delusional.

'he could'

But he may have chosen not to.

Going to America does not automatically mean he's not capable.

You need to accept that, as it is a fact.

Let's look at the evidence.

Bayern sell him because his injuries are an issue. Continues to have bad injuries at United. Jose shows no interest in using him bar the odd game against bums. No other club in Europe shows any interest at all. He ends up going on a free transfer on a one year contract to Chicago. At 32.

Do you seriously expect to see him back in Europe in a year?

His old mate at Bayern said he may well retire.

Robb Jimmy Hustle (U21234)

No, I don't expect to see him back.

That's irrelevant to whether he could do a job for a top club or not.

Why at 32 with his exemplary career is he off to Chicago?

Lifestyle? Money? Regular first team football?

Who knows.

I was merely making the point that him going to America is not 'proof' that he is not capable of playing PL football, as you were making out.

Defoe is proof.

Henry is also proof.

He showed enough in his appearances this season that he still had enough in the tank to help out in this busy part of the season. That Jose chose to ignore him is his loss and that Jose is letting him go so close to the end of this busy season is just plain stupid imo

One thing his cameo appearances this season also proved is that the vast majority of utd fans respected and liked bastian unlike the usual Jose fan girls on this board.

Henry's isn't really proof, he played 4 games on loan at Arsenal.

I think you're forgetting the reason he was sold by Bayern, was missing most of last season for us and likely the main reason he was sold, that being his knees are gone. Any player who may have returned to a high level of European football after the MLS would have unlikely had major injury problems.
