Great player but Marcelo for one is better and I'd argue Alaba is equal. Alonso seems a good player though, surprised you're not finding a replacement for Moses instead.
I will only believe If your source is goal.com. Anyways, regarding the inflated fee : if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Top dollar gets you top quality.

Not sure what's that wrong with fee. These days you'd expect any world class player in his position @ prime age to at least cost that. Strikers,wingers,AMs who are as I described probably more. I for one I'm glad we're trying to upgrade wingbacks, very important in our formation and although ideally we'd replace both having one massive upgrade on our current pretty basic options will make a big difference.
Look at best teams in the world, Juve, Bayern, Madrid. All have the best full backs in the world. See how important they were in Madrid/Juve's CL run. Having a good, quick, creative two way footballers at wingback is the creative pressure put off Hazard fans always ask for, and him and Sandro down the left could be devastating.
The left side of our starting line up could look a lot stronger before the season starts. Sandro, Bakayoko and maybe Van Dijk replacing Alonso, Matic and Cahill.

Was probably the initial plan (start of summer we were linked with Conti and Walker) but if a player of Sandro's quality becomes available you can't say no.

He did, but put it this way, if Liverpool for argument sake have the chance to sign Mbappe or bring Suarez back, would you say no because Firmino had a good season?
Comparing Firmino to Alonso is v favourable

I reckon it's been done for weeks, ever since Conte told Costa he was surplus. The way in which he publicly stopped short of saying his new club is sorted has our stink all over it. Our post-Robinho dealing in sort of secretish ways

Completely agree, the WB's do need upgrading. I'd just have focused my resources on a CB and CM, got the best available in those positions first.
But that's just my armchair manager opinion. I ain't gunna be unhappy about the club signing any player whose easily in the top 3 of the position he plays where ever that is
Yeah the Lukuku transfer gossip has weirdly been very quiet. I think it's a done deal ready to be announced very soon.

He did but at the moment we only have one him for that position.
Our signings have blown hot and Cole at LB for years. You win some and you Luis some I guess. Some decent players have come Alonso we've had stopgaps but no one world class. If Sandro changes this then hoo-Rahman.
